Yep....They reckon £4m and above on RTG....I'd take him for £2-£3m.

He'd be class if he didn't spend half the season suspended.

Yeah goodie, we'll get him & he'll play one match and then be suspended for the next three and that'll continue for the rest of the season.

Don't see why everyone is saying "he'll be suspended more then he plays" and all that bullshit, he's had 3 red cards in 80 games, 1 a season is hardly that bad!
I do agree though he's be a great signing get him sitting next to Meyler in a 4-2-3-1 and reunite that Sunderland chemistry!

I think the concerns about his disciplinary record are justified, but rightly or wrongly I'd take a gamble on such a player. My bigger concern would be how the knee stands up for a player with such a combative style.

4 reds cards and 32 yellow cards in 72 leagues games and with his injury record. IMO he's far to big risk for the amount he'd take out of transfer and wage budget.

Does anyone else fancy pointing out that the kid doesn't seem to have that much ability to go with the fact he just gets randomly pissed off and starts hacking people down?.. On the evidence I've seen he's just an angry Dean Marney.

Lets face it - this is 1 player that SB will know whether we take a punt on or not. In SB we trust...

is he another JB? maybe we can offer him a rolling contract cos IF his knees turn to glass (with all that hard tackling) we will need to get rid.
But overall he sounds a good buy. He will know Brucey from his time with Slumberland.

talk on the sun'lan forum suggests he may have trouble passing a medical due to his knee issues. generally the well balanced views are that they are going to be sad to see him go.

I think a) he'd be a great signing and b) I also think that Bruce will.

I'd be surprised if we weren't interested and put in a firm offer.

Wasnt Meyler in the same boat with them? Yet he's hardly missed a game for us.

Without even looking I assume it's Cattermole? Bruce signed him for Wigan and for Sunderland - it wouldn't surprise me at all if he signed him again. Peter Taylor had Junior Lewis! Steve Bruce has Lee Cattermole.

Why don't you look at the facts instead of running around spewing out a load of tripe?

So if Dean Marney and Bullard had a son....

Seriously, no, has no one learnt anything from buying people with glass knees?!

Fit and able to control his temper sure, but neither of those will happen through a whole season.

You mean like Meyler, who Sunlan fans all warned us was injured more than Richard Hammond wants a punch in the face.

Heh, Im with you on Hammond!

I think this is different, he's just had a knee op, players are never the same after that. Free? Sure, at any cost and at the cost of another player? Not for me.

He averages 17 bookings and 2 red cards every 38 league games for Sunderland. That's probably 10 games suspended. You add his injuries and he becomes a total liability. He won't come cheap £3m transfer fee and probably £40k a week over at least a 3 year contract. He's really not worth the risk.

I can't really imagine he'll command those kind of amounts with his injury situation and presumably, depending on the length of his current contract, Sunderland may well be willing to trade well below that sort of fee. He's only 25? and with his injury situation will probably be more interested in length of contract than weekly pay but will have to be realistic in his demands, all things considered!
