We can just use Spearo next season as the backup

Banega (as mentioned) isn't really the DM type we need, although I'd go for him because he's quality at the expense of Allen...
Hopefully we can bag a cheap DM like other PL sides have been doing the last few years, rather than blowing 10mill on one who's not gonna play much

Can't say I'm convinced BR wants the Makelele / Mascherano type of DM. He likes players to be able to play more than one position and I don't think central midfield is any different. Someone like Banega would appeal to BR IMO.
Perhaps not, but I think he needs one...which is why rather than fork out for a 10mill rated bench warmer, make our scouts earn their salt and go find a hidden gem from some random club. Other teams manage to do it

I agree we need one, I have question marks over Lucas' role since his injuries because he's not been looking the same and is still trying to get back to the level he was at. Plus, we should be aiming for two players for every position, who is Lucas' competition? I like Lucas and I'm sure that if I claim he is a crowd favourite there won't be too many that disagree, but I don't care if he loses his place to a newcomer. Liverpool Football Club comes first and no players deserves a guaranteed starting spot IMO, that includes a in-form in his prime Steven Gerrard!

Lucas struggled for his best form when he came back which isnt abnormal
Hopefully after the summer he'll be back to his best but does no one any harm to be kept on their toes, competition for places!

Well BR kept using Hendo further forward than Gerrard because of his work rate, but if we sign mikhitaryan then he'll take over that role.
Since I've seen nothing about us selling Hendo, perhaps BR will use him as a DM?
