Who am I? no, not the ex Scotland manager, the picture contains the name of a current player, not Spurs and not likely to be either! please log in to view this image
well done Thor, you've solved my picture poser. The player depicted in post #4503 is Levein-dove-ski.
Trolling around I came across this, old story but still funny. Its based around Roy Keanes 'seriousness' during tournaments and certainly at moments just before KO, is not the time to be cracking jokes with Keano... I'd forgot McAteer was nicknamed Trig and here's a few reasons why... According to former Blackburn team-mates, Jason's greatest moment came on a squad night out to an Italian restaurant. Asked by the waitress whether he wanted his pizza cut up into eighths, McAteer is alleged to have replied, "Nah, I'm not that hungry - just cut it into four." "On spotting another famous face in a Dublin nightclub, Jason decided to make the star feel welcome by yelling out a catchphrase he would naturally be familiar with. What snooker's Jimmy White made of the sudden cry "One hundred and eighty!" is sadly not recorded" In another story, McAteer is reckoned to have asked a Liverpool team-mate what to put in the space marked 'Position In Company' on a credit card application form. Apparently the source of McAteer's confusion was that "I'm a central midfielder but the boss is playing me out of position at right wing-back." Ireland team-mate Ian Harte says: "The other week Jason gave a Ralph Lauren polo shirt to his mum to wash and those shirts are longer at the back than at the front. His mum didn't spot this until after she'd washed it, thought she'd shrunk the front, and so cut the back to make both sides equal, hoping he wouldn't notice. He says that's where he gets his stupidity from."
When he went into management with John Barnes at Tranmere, he sent a scout to assess Swindon who Tranmere were playing the following week. The report listed the Swindon team that day, including a player called Noone. McAteer apparently gave he scout a bollocking for only naming 10 of Swindon team. When the scout pointed out he had definitely listed all the players, McAteer said " no you didn't because you wrote No One played at number 10" .
I've decided to go and see a Spurs 11 play one of Sutton United local Rivals Kingstonian on July 18th,they were big rivals until 2 years ago when Sutton were promoted, and sometimes still meet them in the Surrey senior cup
not football related, but James Gandolfini has died. Some of the best acting I've ever seen was his portrayal of "Tony Soprano" in "The Soprano's". Sad times. Only 51.
When I was a kid we played their youth side in a friendly, we got absolutely harpooned I feel obliged to watch the Soprano's now. Everyone is raving about it.
It was a brilliant show, my uncle had a box set of it for Christmas 3 or 4 years ago. I think I spent more time there than I did with my actual family that year. When I got back home, Sky Atlantic started running reruns and rewatching epsiodes didn't bother me at all, which they usually do, it was that good.
I echo TGP's comments. I don't know if you've seen Boardwalk Empire DL, but BE is better, IMO. - But only because it's by the same people who did The Soprano's, so they were able to use their experience of it to their advantage. The Soprano's was the first of its kind and was a fantastic series, which I would highly recommend. You can pick up the boxed set for about £60 from amazon. It's well worth watching when the weather turns crap and there's never anything on TV. You'll realise just how good Gandolfini was. A very sad day.
I'm 3/4s of the way through the 3rd season of Boardwalk Empire, its just fantastic. Steve Buescemi is quality, and the whole Van Alden thing is brilliant considering how wooden the character himself is. In fact, HBO throw out nearly all the quality American television, GoT, BE, Sopranos...
Watched the first series. Not having a telly in Aber means I'm catching up left right and centre when I'm home from Uni, but I remember it being pretty good, series 2 is on my list, unfortunatley, it could be a while before I get around to it.
I won't say anything, but yes, I completely agree. I think it's my favourite show ever. I'm a huge fan of Richard harrow too. Absolute legend!! I need to start game of thrones. - my brother in law has been banging on about it for months, as one of the main characters is a student of his. However, I heard that something happens at the end of series 1 which makes you think... Really?! : I've seen season 1&2 and my mate has season 3 recorded on the sky box. - that's next on the agenda!! - filmed round the corner from your house by any chance NSIS?! Lol!
