Royston Drenthe to Reading is almost a done deal apparently and they've offered Billy Sharp a second medical after he failed the first on Friday.

Has it been confirmed that it was Sharp who failed the medical? Source? Whats the point in him coming for a second- keep having medicals until he passes?!

I think Banega is still a target but Wanyama more likely #saintsfc #transfers Am i being greedy in wanting both?

Yeah he's not exactly known for being reliable. That said, obviously I don't expect both, I don't even really expect either.

I saw centre back Douglas was available on a free from FC Twente. He's been linked with Newcastle and Liverpool. Just depends on his attitude if he's worth going for. One more centre back might also be too many, it might start causing too much frustration within the squad at lack of game time. He's a tall strong player (6'3) and a good passer (93% completion in 5 Europa league games) from what I've read. I guess we could sell Hoovield if we signed him.

Well it would seem I am going to have to wait a fortnight now for any transfer updates as the very lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov will be driving us to our hotel at Gatwick in about half an hour ready for our early morning flight to Heraklion. I have my copies of Zorba the Greek and the Cretan Runner to read while I'm away and if the weather holds and there are plenty of pretty girls to distract me I may forget all about football for a while.

I leave you all in charge of this site and I am hoping to come back less grumpy and far more cheerful than I have been of late. I am disappointed to see that ΟΦΗ have no fixtures while we are in Crete so it is going to be sitting in the shade and reading although I am sure I may find some unsuspecting fan of another club to annoy. I will not be able to go swimming as the very lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov has thrown my knitted swimming trunks in the dustbin. I am bloody annoyed as I have had them since 1953 and there was still some wear left in them. Her argument was that they were so baggy that they had become obscene and that if I want to swim I shall have to buy a new costume. I have been looking at a pair of Speedos but she wouldn't let me buy them. For some reason we never seem to have a problem finding a vacant sun lounger by the pool as early in the morning when we go down to settle by the pool my flatulence is at its worse. I did the fifty question test in the Times today to see if I was old and as I answered yes to all of the questions I now have to consider myself to be an old git.

To get myself in the holiday mood I have been watching old episodes of Benidorm. Well that is it and now it is Crete here we come.

Don't let us sign any crap players while I'm away and make sure that Shaw doesn't go anywhere. I still haven't forgotten going on holiday only to discover that Shearer was sold while I was away.

I fully expect Wanyama to be a Southampton player by September. I'm not ITK or anything, it just seems right and I have a good feeling about it :cheesy:

Enjoy, Godders!
