The tactics would have been to pick your best players, actually have an out ball and to try and stop their midfield from dominating.
Either pick Berbatov up front with Rooney in behind and a midfield with a bit of bite (Park, Fletcher, Carrick, Nani) or just leave Rooney up on his own and go with 5 across the middle.
Very strange decisions by Ferguson, for my money.
I'd agree about United going for Modric, but I think that they're (you're?) trying to steal a march on a possibly distracted City, who may have other primary targets and managerless Chelsea, by making a quick move.
I could be wrong and this could all be posturing, to disguise a reported move for Snjeider or it could just be an attempt to damage a Premier League opponent by unsettling a very good player.
Either way, I'm getting very sick of this stuff from Man Utd, frankly.
We should have hammered them over the extremely dubious Berbatov transfer.
