Yep you are correct, the games I have seen he has played as cb.(I have seen a lot )

I'd prefer Banega, because he can do something that seems beyond most of our players: identify and complete a pass in close quarters. Gaston is more of an open-field playmaker; Banega's certainly no slouch there, either, but we could really do with a player who can set up shop at the top of the box when the need arises and turn a set defense into a shambles.

I did notice that he was the only player not to get The Watch when he signed up.
