I have just been looking on Transfermarkt and RvW's value is already £9.2m on there...... I know that doesnt necessarily mean a lot but you wont see many international standard 24 year olds moving for under there value this summer. EXCELLENT BUSINESS!!!!! I still hope we get Hooper, he has potential and is a great age. I would hate to miss out on him for the sake of say £1-2m. We need to build for the future and RvW and Hooper would mean we wouldnt need to spend any money for seasons to come unless we sold them.
i can still see another forward playing player coming in, but van Ginkel appears out of our range unfortunately. would absolutely love him to join RvW with us but it seems Mourinho is on his case.
scott parker is not a viable option. shame, as he would be the perfect fulcrum in our midfield. the finances would never add up and at his age and commanding a fee, would have no re-sale value. as for naismith, he's piss poor. i'm surprised anybody rates him! still never understood why moyes took him to everton. i always thought he'd end up somewhere in the championship like derby or birmingham, which is probably where he will end up after everton!
Going back to line-up for the opening day of the season, even without more players coming in this looks decent: Ruddy Martin Turner Bassong Garrido Howson Johnson Snodgrass Hoolahan Pilkington Van Wolfswinkel Subs: Bunn, Whittaker, R.Bennett, Tettey, E.Bennett, Holt, Becchio Any new players coming in will add to an already strong line-up.
For a home match, I think this is pretty damn delicious too! ...................Ruddy.................. Martin..Turner....Bassong..Garrido ...........Howson...Johnson.......... Snodgrass .................Pilkington ...............RvW....Holt............... Subs: Bunn, Whittaker, R.Bennett, Tettey, E.Bennett, Hoolahan, Becchio
Anyone watching the Brazil-Japan game? Keisuke Honda is apparently available on a free transfer this summer. Google reckons the salary of his recently expired contract was £28k per week. Please, please, please can we show some interest in him this summer! (I know he's way too good for us)
I'd have thought Honda would have been on more than that, but if true would be a good deal indeed, DH.
Yeah, I was surprised I must admit, especially at a club like CSKA who don't seem too short of cash. They offered him an extra €1m a year to stay and he turned it down, so presumably the quality of the league/team is more important to him? At 27, he's a very good age, and would make a difference to any team, but he's probably too good to not be playing Champion's League football. Arsenal would be my bet if he came to the Prem. Would love us to at least make enquiries though.
Delicious, delicious rumours.... A friend (possibly of a friend...) of my housemate bumped into Benteke in Las Vegas (and has the pics to prove it), and asked him whether he'd be at Villa next season, and he answered "In all probability not". They appear to be after Nicklas Helenius as a replacement, which is a shame as I really rate him.
There are a few rumours around that Toivonen's agent held "positive" talks with Norwich, quote "This is the right club, and right league for Ola".
Bearing in mind Chelsea are rumoured to have had a £15m offer turned down, I can't imagine that we are genuinely linked to a permanent move (despite being mentioned in this article). http://www.cartilagefreecaptain.com/2013/6/15/4433264/matej-vydra-tottenham-hotspur-transfer-rumours Maybe an agreement where spurs sign Vydra and loan him immediately to us cld work?
That would be nice of them, but the CH Spurs connection might work. 20 goals in 41 appearances for Watford isn't to be sniffed at.
the People report that Villa will come in for John Ruddy once they have Shay Given of their payroll. did Lambert tell them this? i think not. just conjecture and lazy guesswork. i hope. though, if Ruddy does leave, it will surely be to a team of much greater stature than them.
There's a list of players released by clubs in amongst the confirmed transfers here - several tidy players currently or soon to be unattached. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/transfers/
I cannot for the life of me see Ruddy going to villa. 1 wouldn't be first choice. 2. They cant afford him. 3. They supposedly after Jed steer anyway and 4. McNally won't accept any bid for him, especially from them.
Where was this reported? Be disappointed if it happened. But keeping Ruddy is a must, cant see him going to Villa
