Ba would be a slightly better Adebayor, and the latter has been absolute ****e for us, so far. I say, pass. Something is not better than nothing unless it improves us significantly.
Ba's a strange one I would've thought Mourinho wanted him, he's fast, direct and strong. All he needs to do is add is the ability to play with his back to goal. For us though, he's no improvement on Adebayor and is a poor fit for the style of play we want.
But they've got Lukaku for that. I don't mind Ba, but I do agree with what someone else said... I'm not sure he's a top 4 striker. I think he's an improvement, but we still need much more as our options are so limited and/or crap.
No disrespect, but I don't think Chelsea see you as their direct rivals. Plus if they bring somebody like Cavani in, then they are not really going to be too fussed where Ba ends up. I can see why Spurs didn't want to strengthen Chelsea with Modric, but the same parameters wouldn't really apply with Ba going the other way. I can understand what people mean about Ba not really being a marquee signing, but he is a decent striker and would be an improvement on what you've currently got, even if he doesn't send the pulses racing. Moreover, with the top 4 all looking for a new striker and Ba having to make way, he is definitely a realistic option for you guys.
Personally, I hope Chelsea are arrogant enough not to view us as rivals - despite the fact that the tables of the last 2 years should tell them we are. As for any possible business between the clubs, much would depend on the owner and his feelings towards us after the Modric saga. I'm not really sure of how the relationship between Mourinho & AVB currently stands, either. Last I heard, it wasn't too good.
Thank you for your constant little wind ups, I am sure he would be a useful addition to your soulless dome down the road. I agree with you that we are not truly rivals of the money blessed Chavs but being honest I don't think you are either.
Stop acting like a Tart. I'm not suggesting anything that your fellow fans aren't pondering either. Modric to Chelsea would have significantly strengthened Chelsea whilst weakening Spurs, that's why Levy didn't do it. Ba leaving Chelsea for Spurs, especially if it happens on the back of them signing somebody like Caviani, isn't going to be seen by Chelsea in the same light. Personally, I think Ba would be a good addition for Spurs, he's quick, strong, good in the air, has a lethal shot and would be a big improvement on Adeybayor, Defoe and Dempsey.
They have been lacklustre to put it politely. But I think Ba would be a decent acquisition, not just because he's better than what you have, but because he's actually a decent striker.
Ba is decent, but we'd need him + another of top quality, so we've got versatile options. He's not got enough about him to be our main striker that we rely on.
apparently Paulinho's agent is in london discussing a move to us. (sky sports sources) Supposedly, he has the same agent as Bernard...
Not Ba,maybe as a back up but not as a first choice striker. We finished above Chelsea two seasons ago. and were one match behind them last season. Not rivals??????????????????? They don't see us as rivals???????????????????????.
I was thinking the same things TMT. I was under the impression that we were Chelsea's main rivals, despite us and arsenal being traditional rivals. I thought they hated us??
Ba? Bah. One of these strikers who's had a purple patch, scored a few goals and now has an overinflated reputation. Spurs need a clever forward with a decent touch, who can link up play as well as score goals. There are few with the ability of Tevez, Aguero, RvP, Suarez and the like, but you should be looking for one rather than wasting money on Ba.
I doubt that rivalry extends to the board room level. But now I've said that I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they don't get on well at that level either, all things considered. 36 in 66 before in the PL before joining Chelsea is more than a purple patch. The quality of some of those goals too is very impressive, I just don't think he's particularly well suited to us so I can't see him doing any better than Ade and Defoe. If we're going to sign a striker they'll need to be either significantly better and/or younger than Ade and Defoe, or else what would be the point?
Generally speaking its not common for West Ham, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs to do business with each other. I can't see Chelsea and Spurs doing business with each other whilst AVB is manager and there's no way Arsenal & Spurs would because of the rivalry and narrow gap between the two of late. I'm with LDL re: Ba
PISKIE is actually making sense Stopped clock etc... I'd take Ba - Ideally I'd like Adebayor to get off his backside and show us the quality which he clearly has. I'm expecting one of Defoe or Adebayor to move on, but I'd be relatively happy with a strike force of (IN FORM) Adebayor, Ba, Defoe. I'd prefer Lukaku over Ba though.
