I know people here like Davis so I didn't wanna go over the top, but yeah he's a definite upgrade.
Banega is certainly a better footballer than Davis. That said, too many cooks spoil the broth and unless MP is sure that Banega can be accomodated in our prefered system then I don't think we should persue players just because they are available (or indeed flavour of the month, which I accept s no the case with EB).
Identify areas that need strengthening and do it with players who compliment what we already have.

Shudder the thought. I agree though, do we need another central player to go in the attacking role behind the striker? We have gaston (flair), Davis (utility), Lallana can play there, Guly's best position is sat right behind the striker centrally etc. Would love us to sign a winger and a striker.

Banega is better than all of them, though his ceiling is lower than Gaston's. Gaston can play out wide, Davis can and does play further back, Lallana can play there but doesn't, and as much as I like Guly, he's never a reason not to go for Banega.
I'm not saying we shouldn't sign Banega if MP has identified him and if he fits the system. What I am saying is that, given the choice, I'd much rather have a centre back, utility defender, winger and a striker in than a player who's best positions are the same as 3 of our best footballers (cork, schneiderlin and Ramirez).
Sorry but we can do better than Cork. I would imagine he will see a lot more of the bench next season.

I think of it as he was driving with his foot scraping along outside the door, the foot went under the wheel and the rest of him followed

Disagree. A lot of poeple said Cork would see a lot of the bench this year when Davis arrived. I suspect Cork will be a little like Lampard at Chelsea when Abramovich first arrived - everyone assumed he would end up on the becnh but no matter who they signed he kept on being the first name on the team sheet.
So if we buy Wanyama for 10m or someone else around his level they would be on the bench?
But we aren't a club that will stand still, if Pochettino wants to strengthen the midfield it will be Cork that drops to the bench as Morgan was far better.
Exactly. Morgan is an automatic starter and so would Wanyama if we signed him. So that leaves Cork on the bench.
No player should assume they will play every game...a high price means you are going to be given a lot of chances to prove yourself, but its up to everyone to up their game because of the competition.
