It would seem we never made a 3rd offer.

If this is true and we up the bid for Hooper then would indicate that we are more inclined to spend on strikers.
This I agree would be the best option.
So forget Schmeichel and go for either Schwarzer for a season and Bolat, then look at Schmeichel in January, or
McGregor, who we keep being told by various media we have already sorted for 1.8m and Bolat for free.

    Personally prefer the McGregor/Bolat combination.

According to Rob Tanner, who's their version of David Burns (Hons), LCFC are refusing to sell Kasper to anybody. Suits me, I'd rather we got Bolat and either McGregor or Schwartzer. With this announcement I expect our goalkeeping situation will become clearer in the next few days.

S'funny how literally Stockdale never gets a mention now. I've got a sneaky suspicion all this papertalk is us bluffing Fulham and we'll see him come in from nowhere for £2m with international appearance + non-relegation add-ons......

I personally don't think he's good enough to be a #1 PL goalkeeper. I'll happily be proven wrong, but not for £2m.

Slightly off topic - Fulham now rumoured to be favourites to sign Darren Bent from several sources ... couple of articles had linked you guys with him but never saw it myself given how he acted under Steve Bruce when at Sunderland.

    He's clearly too expensive.

We made the move, we tried, but we can't just chuck any sum around like last time.

I'm sure my mate Brucie will have other irons in the fire. Let's look elsewhere and stick our financial plan.

you can hardly relate to that article about fans starting eleven as at the time we had only been linked with kasper and mcgregor , if we get kasper fine i personally wouldnt offer much more than what we have i dont think he is worth it , certainly at this time schwarzer all the way for me .

I completely agree, but Bruce seems to think he is.

Total non-starter for the reason you said plus we wouldnt even get to half his wages. He also said last time when he went to Sunderland that he wouldnt sign for us so **** him.

Have I missed something where SB has said that Stockdale is good enough to be a #1 premiership keeper?

Do you expect him to come out and say that about players? Would be a strange media campaign.

I agree. I was just confused with you saying on the one hand that nobody had been talking about Stockdale, and on the other saying SB thinks he's good enough to be #1 premiership keeper.

As I haven't been coming on here as much recently I wondered if it had been mentioned recently by someone and I had missed it

Didnt we publicly chase him as soon as the season finished but were put off by the £4m price-tag? That's the way I seem to remember it.

That's that then. He was a great goalkeeper for us and if Schmeichel was to leave Leicester, I could see them going in for him again (he was there for a bit a few years ago) but I don't think he's consistent enough for a #1 spot yet.

I think it will be McGregor and Bolat vying for the #1 spot next season.

The simple solution to all this now is for Kasper to tell Lesta that he will stay and see out his contract and then leave / please himself next summer. Hull City should go for Mark Schwarzer who is the best value for money at the moment. If Shay Given ends up @ Celtic that means that Fraiser Forster is also on his way out of Celtic. With a world cup squad play open for grabs with England you cannot blame him.

Rob Tanner indeed. As if he will know regardless anyway.

We need a gk of many years with PL experience for next season and a No.2 who can work with him. Stockdale and Kasper would be good long term but not at the moment as No.1

Could Lesta be joing Blackburn Rovers in the chicken coup next season, Sorry poor house ?

    So it appears.

    Stockdale or Stekelenburg? :emoticon-0114-dull:

    He's Championship standard anyway IMHO.
