Some bits and pieces on Bueno, from Nick Dorrington - Spanish-based journalist specialising in South American football:

"A few words to follow on Nacional's Gonzalo Bueno, who reports suggest is on the verge of a £8 million move to Southampton"

"Bueno is a quick, tricky wide player who is also capable of playing as a second striker. Good on either foot"

"Bueno has scored just under a goal every 3 appearances, or 0.41 per 90 mins, since breaking into first team at Nacional in 2011"

"He shows promise, but the quality of his end product is still very variable and he has a tendency to go missing at times"

"Saints supporters will get a chance to see Bueno in action at the U20 World Cup in Turkey later this month"

"Bueno was the man on the end of this superb double save from Peru's Angelo Campos during SAU20s earlier this year"

he looks properly quick which is a good sign however I don't have a good feeling about this signing. He's going to have to be incredibly determined and resilient to make it in the premier league. Hopefully he shows enough promise for the club to stick with him for a few years as that's how long it could take him to fully settle in. The difference between a homesick player and one who wants to be there is immense. Having gaston and pochettino will help but it will be down to him in the end to want it enough.

Yeah, I don't have that good a feeling about it. Especially not at the rumoured price.

£8m for a guy who has performed unspectacularly and inconsistently in a league a million times worse than the Premier League. Let's hope the scouts have done an extremely thorough job.

I haven't seen anything of him and I appreciate he's been playing in a weaker league, but a goal every 3 games for a 20 year old wide player seems pretty good to me.

I think he looks to have a lot of technique and ability but very very raw, so the prospect of signing another well, prospect with how many of our fans have moaned about Gaston, Mayuka and Forren does not wet my appetite. £8m seems steep too, but if he's 'their man' and that's how much it'll cost to get him then I wouldn't complain.

Least if we sign him and he only does ok Gaston will be let off the hook. :p

I worry that I worry how our fans will take to him, if you know what I mean.
