Not commenting on Cresswell particularly, but my fear is that if we fail with the good signings, we end up getting okay players just to make up the numbers. Sometimes towards the end of the season we were struggling in some positions due to injury, but you can get lumbered if you sign people out of desperation. Sorry, it's a bit early to panic:(

Far too early Fran ... breath!

While it's obviously too early to really be worried I must admit I also wonder whether we spend too much time chasing somewhat unlikely transfers. If this was Football Manager I might suggest Cortese should tick the "ask assistant to filter out unrealistic targets" box. :D

Now Ramirez ..... Lol

The fact is my feelings towards Fox are the exact opposite of yours towards Ramirez. I'm not going to change my opinion. Just like you with Ramirez, I try not to comment when his name is brought up but I just can't help myself!

Back on topic.

We just need to work harder through the scouts to unearth a Michu type; a hidden gem. They are out there.

I highly doubt Michu was unknown, in fact I would be shocked if every Premier League team hadn't heard of him/scouted him due to his performances in La Liga the previous season. It was just Swansea (and others if you believe media reports at the time, including us) who decided to pull the trigger and sign him.

Sick of this Ramirez debate. There are dozens of examples of foreign players (and South Americans in particular) taking time to settle in and we definately shouldn't judge until Christmas at the earliest. What's more, his value hasn't fallen at all, in fact the figures quoted in the media are 5m or so more than we payed for him so the fee we payed cannot be argued with.

A season under his belt and a full pre season with MP should really help Ramirez (who wasn't bad at all alst season) to really push on and I hope the same will be true of Mayuka and Forren as well. The three are regular starters for their international teams and it would be massive for the club if they find their feet in their second season in the PL and play to their obvious potential.

Obviously, we need to (and will add to) what we have but there's enough already in the squad to make me optimistic for next season. Can't we just focus on transfer rumours and not endless debates about the current squad/past squad members.

Well we aren't signing verdu, he has agreed to sign a new contract .

I'm actually not incredibly disappointed about that. He's 30 years old, so he'd have to hit the ground running, so to speak, and I have doubts that he would have anyhow. My preference is for a younger player, even one who needs to grow a bit into the job, so 20-23 nice, and 24-27 ideal. Unless he's a god of course, but I'm not sure even Cortese is capable of convincing one of those to come to Saints just yet. :)

More mutterings on Bueno...turns out he has the same agent as Gaston and is over here to meet 4 clubs, us included. I've got a strong suspicion that this one is going to happen.

"Zorro"
In another order, the businessman Pablo Bentancur traveled to Europe and one of its purposes was to begin to define the future of good Gonzalo. In addition to the interest of the Southampton of England, the stronger to take the "Zorro", there are three Italian teams who also have young striker tricolor folder.

Bentancur was scheduled to meet with the four European institutions so that time, well can decide where you want to migrate. Today, the Southampton has advantage and not only by the excellent economic offer, which according to sources tricolor would be a business record. For good would be great to have another Uruguayan as Companion: Gastón Ramírez. In addition, coach of the English team is the Argentine Mauricio Pochettino and work with a coach who speaks Spanish much facilitate the adaptation of the juvenile to English football. All these aspects are taken into account by good and his family when making a decision.

Anyway, and despite meetings that will keep Bentancur on the old continent, there is no trouble of the entrepreneur or national to realize the pass since the "Zorro" integrates campus of the under-20 that will debut in the World Championship category next Sunday in Turkey and have a good performance in this competition would rise even more your quote.

What is clear is that after the World Cup, the "Zorro" will not national. Moreover, unlike what happened in the previous period passes, when Bueno said that not to the possibility of going to Russian football, is now convinced that is time to leave.

We may never be able to recreate the Gastón thread but at least we can have his agent. The pimp returns.

Didn't cortese end up getting the agent to drop his fee on gaston? Do you think he's likely to want to have a hard bargain driven again by the don, or will he prefer to do business with someone softer?
