Good points, Godders. Reading and Brighton are local rivals for what we want to achieve, but the difficulty is that I can't raise the enthusiasm to dislike them. They are nouvo-rivals and only time can cure that.
back to original post!!!!! Just heard interview with Barry Fry and he said that CMS is definately leaving Posh. He said he can choose where he gaose as long as they get their money and fees have been agreed with several clubs. I was really impressed with him yesterday, despite missing a couple of chances.
St godders...........The one thing you cannot over come and that is history............. I have been supporting Saints for over 60 years. Yes almost half the time the club has been in existence. Going back to the early days although Pompey were the div 1 team and we were in the then div 3 south. They were just as much our rivals then just as they are today. We were/are rivals on the rare occasion we played them we were/are rivals for support we were/are rivals for who has the bragging rights, who did best in the various cups or worst depending on what team you support. We are also rivals as to who has the best players, who can attract the best players. They are also the nearest football club to us so would be naturally considered our rivals just based on that. You are allowing your dislike of the club to cloud your judgement. Your argument is not sound as it is based on half truths and submissions. It is true Pompey are a bit down at the moment, but you cannot judge their whole history based on a short period of time. Whatever their exploits, no matter how they achieved it, you cannot alter their history. The club survives for now, what it's future holds is pure speculation and as long as they survive, nothing, anyone can say or do will alter my opinion.
Thanks SH........Have no Idea how I did that I haven't been in the moderation tools for a long time.............A bit of a mystery!! Unless Kingsland did but he would have let me know....puzzled
St. Godders I feel sorry for Huddersfield as they were clearly the third best team over the course of the season. Petersborough were a bit hit and miss and whilst the goal-count in their games ensured tha they were excellent entertainment value. I agree with the comments about Huddersfield making more of a challenge in the Championship and wouldn't have struggled like Ferguson's sqaud. I feel sorry for Huddersfield as I had hoped they got what they deserved - even if it was at the expense of Bournemouth. The side issue about Portsmouth is nonsense. I don't feel passionate about playing either Reading or Brighton like I do when we are up against Portsmouth. Working in Denmead, many of my colleagues support PFC and after working in the PO postcode since 2005, I think they have a tremendous amount of support if somewhat fickle. Historically and culturally, we have for long periods played second fiddle to Portsmouth and I suppose it was only from the late 70's that we gained the ascendancy. Portsmouth may be on the floor at the moment but I can remember when it was first announced that Gaydamak had bought the club. Loads of Pompey fans were ringing up Radio Five and saying that they would be the new Chelsea and, sure enough, they soon had picked up the F A Cup. If you imagine that Portsmouth hadn't imploded financially, can you really say that with Redknapp at the helm they wouldn't have remained a potent force in the Premiership. Once the club have been acquired by someone with a bit of money behind them, I am sure that they will offer far more competition than most Saints fans currently suspect.
Think overall Huddersfield deserved to go up more than Posh. However on the day Posh played better and deserved it more. Did feel it was a little unfair that they got the first via a blatent dive which surely the linesman should have seen! Wanted Huddersfield to go up coz they pushed us so hard toward the end of the season but I guess everyone knows the rules at the start of the season and if you end up in the playoffs you have to continue to put your all in to win. Kept thinking how relieved I was not to be there with Saints. Thank god we made that 2nd place! Knowing Saints it would have been just our luck to have gone up there on such good form and got beaten exactly the same way Udders were....
Huddersfield cheated their way past us in the semis so some ways they got what was coming... might sound a little bitter but true............anyway bring on the new season!
Excuse the pun..Football is a 90 min game. Posh exploited Udder's weakness and took advantage of every chance they had on goal in the last 10 mins! Udder's should be ashamed of themselves to conceed 3 goals in the final 10mins!
Bitterness is part of the football fans condition. The number of cheating, diving sc*****s that cheat our angelic players is unbelievable.
Because I thought the mods would, so saved them the time. Obviously I have a rather refined idea of what's a swear word
Yes maybe but Skates don't call us scumbags normally, the term is scummer and we are proud to be called that.
