I thought they were nice sentiments as well PNP. There's a talent in there somewhere, hope he and another club are able to get his career back on track.
Not only have we got mcevoy who looks just like bale, but now we have a new academy player called Kyle walker-peters!
http://m.tottenhamhotspur.com/mobile/News/news-article.page?ref=player-list-100613 William joined in August 2010 after leaving Arsenal and went on to make 78 first team appearances, scoring one goal and captaining the team on a number of occasions. David signed from Blackburn Rovers in July 2008, making 62 appearances, scoring five goals - also having loan spells at Birmingham, West Ham, Rostov and Blackburn. Young professionals John Bostock, Jack Munns, Jack Barthram, Jake Nicholson and Dean Parrett have all been released at the end of their contracts. Academy players Tom Gardiner, Mason Bush, William Ekong, Billy Grainger, Sam Smith and Victor Zapata-Caicedo have also been released. We wish them all every success for the future. Striker Shaq Coulthirst and goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux have been rewarded for their progress with first professional contracts, while we welcome into the Academy Luke Amos, Channing Campbell-Young, Anthony Georgou, Cy Goddard, Shayon Harrison, Joshua Onomah, Joe Pritchard, Lloyd Ross, Harry Voss, Kyle Walker-Peters and Anton Walkes as First Year Scholars.
Shaq Coulthirst and Lawrence Vigoroux well deserve their new contracts. Both players have had an excellent year. Shaq ran out of steam before the end of the season but that didn't detract from a decent season. Lawrence even played for Chile at under 20 level !
Now, we need someone else with Bale in their name, and every trying to get our player's will be confused
If there was ever a case of Levy Manning up, and laying out the cash, it would be for Bernard... I'll get me coat
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...lion-and-the-Spanish-are-prepared-to-pay.html I have backed Bale since he moved to the club, when he had his rocky patch where he was out of the team then in the team playing badly / losing I was one of those that said stick with him and give him a chance when others suggested he was useless, but if this is true and Real Madrid really are willing to spend £85m on Bale we have to snap their hand off. And being half welsh that is a tought thing to admit! Even if Levy gives AVB £50m of it an keeps the rest (assuming we have £20m or so to spend at the minute) that would give us £70m to spend. Bale would be a massive loss, he can turn any game or season on it's head with a moment of brilliance, but our biggest problem has been consistency for many many years. £70m would be able to buy us a consistently solid partner to go alongside Vertonghen / Kaboul, a consistently good winger to play opposite Lennon, a consitently good centre midfielder to play alongside Sandro, and a consistently deadly finisher to play upfront. Anyone that says "why would they come to us, no champion league" is vastly underestimating footaller's intelligence. If players see we have £70m to spend and are spending it on building a solid team rather than splurging on individuals they will be invested in the idea. And to the people that say "you cant sell your top players" / "Other players wont want to move to a 'selling club'".... We need consistency throughout our team. When we had Modric we had no striker. When we had Berbatov we had no defence. An £85m sale of a player could transform our club for the next 10, 20, 30 years. If we were a top club challenging for the league I'd say keep him no matter what. But we aren't. Even with Bale next season we would be too weak in other areas (full backs, strikers, squad depth) to challenge for the title or the champions league spots. We need to build a strong base for our team and this could be our biggest chance at doing it. Look at Arsenal - They sold Henry, The sold Fabregas, They sold Song, They sold Nasri but they took those sales and spent the money on 2-3 cheaper players who helped them build a more consistent team. That is the key to them pipping us to the post every season. They have that consistency we lack.
there were reports of us being interested in Bernard, but apparently an official bid went in, which I wasn't sure if everyone knew about. supposedly we weren't far off. - A rumour suggests that Ath. Miniero want £15mill.
