    err. no actually.

Good player, but not 53.3 mill worth of goodness, and not before Jose has had time to assess Torres, Lukaku, and Ba for himself, especially when he himself has stated he needs to work with his players first before thinking what, if any, additions are required. We're not a charity ffs.

Sounds to me like par for the course - players getting foisted upon the manager.

Asses Torres? FFS, when are people going to realise he will never be as good as he was. Sack the overpaid mess off and bring some real firepower in, Cavani is one of the best in the world. Nothing wrong with having both he and Lukaku playing regularly. We played something like 130 odd games over the past two seasons.

What do we reckon is a decent paybeck for Torres being offloaded?

    £15m? £20m at the outside?

I'm looking at those figures and calling myself deluded for even thinking that much :(

If we can get £10m for Torres I will be over the moon, realistically, he will be 30 soon so that would be good.
Cavani is class, would love to see him and Lukaku team up at the Bridge.

Hopefully we can just add him to the Cavani deal to take some weight off that £54m.

I'd say 20 million. Still scored a fair few goals last season, was top scorer at the Euros and has been recalled for Spain. He must be doing something right. Plus teams may pay more in the hope of getting the 'old' Torres back. The main problem is probably wages.

Regardless, I think paying 50 million plus on another striker is a massive risk. Cavani looks the real deal but it's getting silly what players are going for at the moment. 50 million just seems the figure mooted for anyone whose had a couple of good seasons nowadays.

It's not my money so I wont complain if we bought him but seems a lot of money.

I'd say Torres plus say 20 million is what would be 'fair'.

Our previous big deals have gone tits up because the strikers were both past their peak.

That was top dollar for us back then...I must admit I've always thought we need to find "the next" Jimmy rather than a Didier, the bloke knew where the goal was and nailed it from anywhere.

Jimmy certainly as effective as Drogs, Drogs just had a bigger stage.

Reliable sources reporting that it's done. (If anyone wants to know who PM me, wont disclose to WUMs)

    Great signing <ok>

I'd sell Torres now for whatever we can and keep Ba till January. Lukaku, Ba and Cavani is enough and Schurrle can play there if need be,

Yup assess Torres, its what managers get paid to do. Maybe he won't ever be back to his best but its mindless to risk 53.3 mill without looking at what you've got first. As for Cavani being 'world class' - so was Torres before he joined us.
