Cardiff City are lining up a bid for former Everton defender Joseph Yobo, according to reports in Turkey.
The 32-year-old defender is thought to be unhappy at the Turkish giants, who missed out on the Super Lig title to Istanbul rivals Galatasaray last month, according to Turkish newspaper Fanatik.

Not inspiring but been around the block with good Prem and international experience. Playing for Fenerbahce, same club as Dirk Kuyt, any coincidence?
Seems like a good guy with a bit of Bellamy like philanthropy: -
"In 2007, Yobo set up the Joseph Yobo Charity Foundation, to help under-privileged children in Nigeria. As of 18 July 2007, he has handed out over 300 scholarship awards ranging from primary to university level. Yobo has started a football academy in the Ogoni region of Nigeria."

In a similar vein someone mentioned Richard Dunne to me today, released by Villa. Even less sure about him, half last season out injured and most Prem forwards know his strengths and, more importantly at 33 years old, his weaknesses.

Agree SBFF- only reports but lets see. He is pretty pacey and is he any worse than say barnett who we have been linked with signing on a permanent deal- of course Yobo's wage demands be much higher and at 32 has his time in the PL passed having already spent 8yrs at Everton before departing to turkey...
London - I'd take Barnett over him - cheaper for a start and slotted in really well last season during his stay.
As for Yobo - big, strong and powerful, but getting older and slower. Impressed with him playing alongside Lescott at Everton a few years back, but never convincing after Lescott left.
However you dress it up, is an Everton reject of a couple of years ago the right player?
If the question is answered with a view to taking us forward, probably no, but if all we're attempting to do is stay up there next year, the answer could be different.
He'd need to displace Hudson or Turner rather than be a bench sitter waiting for one of them to get injured or suspended - I'm not sure he'd want that anyway.
We definitely need more cover at CB, and as long as he wasn't too expensive (to buy AND wage wise) he could fit that bill.

Think he will be on the expensive side, so if we are going for him it will be for the experience he can bring into the side.
At the end of the day it will be all about balance and not upsetting the apple cart, we need players that can fit into the setup we already have.

Not saying Yobo is that type but best be clear on the matter. Barnett settled in well and seemed to get on with everyone.

Its all about experience in your first season and at 32 then its obvious he could be earmarked for that...good move by malky...
Shogs - from memory he couldn't seem to get in your side after you got Distin in alongside Lescott. I think you also had Jagielka and some other foreign bloke higher in the pecking order who Moyes tended to favour before him.
It's your team and I might be wrong, but to that extent Yobo became a "reject" when it came to selection. In saying that, his experience could be a great asset to a newcomer in the Prem like us.
If everything dropped into place like fitness, fee, wages, and any ego parked by the door when he came, he maybe worth a punt for a couple of seasons.
Not sure about Yobo, a quality player but his age and I would guess wage demands may be an issue.
