Judging by his tweets, it would seem like he was still in Orlando on the 16th, unless it's an older pic... Confusing one. Edit: Looks like it's an older pic.
Mercedes: FIA International Tribunal a chance to explain full facts A statement issued by the team said: "Mercedes-Benz acknowledges the decision of the FIA to take the matter of the Pirelli Test before the International Tribunal. "We welcome the opportunity to explain the full facts of the Pirelli Test in an open and transparent manner at the International Tribunal. "Sporting integrity is of primary importance to Mercedes-Benz and we have the utmost confidence in the due process of the FIA." No date has yet been set for the International Tribunal hearing, but under the FIA's statutes it could take up to 45 days for a meeting to be scheduled.
Mercedes should be having a word in the ear of good'ole Bernie.. Merc: Bernie.. how are you me old china? Bernie: Terrible, my youngest daughter wants an extension built on that $80M mansion I bought her, only issue is I have to try and buy half of the Hamptons in order to build it.. Merc: Tough luck old bean. BTW, if you want a contribution towards this "extension" may I recommend you have a word with Jean and others at the FIA and suggest they give us a little slap on the wrist? Bernie: I can't do that, I have integrity you know.. Merc: Don't worry, the phone line is secure. Bernie: OK, in that case, A/C 12345678, Sort Code 09-87-65, once cleared I'll have a word... nudge nudge..
Because the FIA wouldn't listen? Or... Let us of the hook and we wont quit... http://www.auto123.com/en/racing-ne...ver-bernie-ecclestone-corruption?artid=156451
Aye, F1 can't afford losing any of their manufacturer's, esp. one the size of Mercedes! We only have Honda coming back, unless more jump on the 1.6 Turbo engine bandwagon and return, FIA would be foolish to piss the Stuttgart!
Seems it was Rosberg and Hamilton at the tyre test, in unmarked helmets. The non secret secrets seem a little secret to me
Was from the press conference, both were in plain helmets or something, although I'm assuming no comment means yes
I have to admit, I am starting to enjoy all the intrigue, speculation and scurrilous rumours. It's the most expensive soap opera on the planet: how will it all end? Stay tuned (for the rest of the season) to find out! Maybe
Unmarked helmets? That's ridiculous. If the test is out in the open and not a secret, what possible reason would you have for hiding who is in the car?
In fairness, given that Nico's helmet is bright yellowy-green and Hamilton's bright greeny-yellow, it's not like you'd be able to tell the difference anyway...
The helmet thing gives substance to some shocking claims from (Italian journalist) Leo Turrini - he was the one who said the drivers didn't wear their normal helmets. His claims were: 1) On Sunday evening the Spanish GP Mercedes team behaves like all teams. Fills transporters of each material and I salute you and I, that is, the trucks are returning to the natural destination, in this case Brackley, England. 2) So allayed suspicions, transporters Mercedes changing road and settle down on the Costa Brava, a 'hour's drive from Montemelo. 3) There, as any tourists, enjoying the mechanics and engineers, because to get the test team from Britain would entail excessive risk (of being caught). 4) However, there is the problem of circuit. The laws, including Spanish, require that for any performance on the track are present not only the employees to the circuit, but also an ambulance and a helicopter for emergency relief. 5) From Stuttgart, make plant operators of Montmelo an offer that does not you can not refuse. Triple fee for the rental of the circuit, but the staff is affectionately sent on vacation (paid even that). Security measures shall directly Mercedes, with its health workers and so forth. 6) Armored structure, a car transporter comes completely white, no sign of any kind, on which the vehicle is being loaded 2013. Only at that point the car transporter 'official' back home. 7) Hamilton and Rosberg are summoned by mail, with the request not to bring the suit to work, least of all the helmets personal. Guide with liveries absolutely anonymous, so if someone going from Montmelo hear the sound of a F1 would think, I know, for a commercial. 8) According to rumors, the curious exhibition was also attended ... Michael Schumacher, kindly invited by Ross Brawn. If both went to the track or not, we do not know. 9) Pirelli has complied with the code of secrecy that has surrounded the entire operation. 10) The donkey fell in Monte Carlo, when someone is asked on the basis of which elements of both Rosberg and Hamilton declare, at every turn, to be fiduciosissimi for Gp, having, according to them, Mercedes solved the trouble of suspensions that involved scary wear pneumatic found to Barcelona. 11) There were those has put two and two, and so on Sunday morning in Monaco, to avoid being unmasked, Mercedes more Pirelli most Whiting have packed version, already prepared and in itself can not be appealed, the exchange of letters between tire supplier, teams and FIA about of the test. 12) Red Bull and Ferrari have had hysterics and asked what he knew Todt. 13) Todt knew only half, or nearly so, and he understood the matter to be finished in a sea of colored matter similar to chocolate. Regarding the developments 'legal', we'll see ... http://blog.quotidiano.net/turrini/2013/05/30/cera-anche-schumi-al-test-pirelli-mercedes/
I thought it was interesting that brawn said they didnt know what tyres were what (made reference to bar codes) yet Roseberg claimed today when asked that they did?
@Rowlinson_F1R: Hearing there has been a significant development in 'Pirelli-gate'. Expect this one to blow up tomorrow if not sooner...
