This news seems to have gone under the radar somewhat and I think it's good to see us keep hold of Murph for a number of reasons.

Has openly stated that he actually wants to be at the club (Probably taking a pay cut to stay here as well)
Keeping last year's team (and momentum) together
Seems to be a 'good egg' and a honest guy on and off the field.

I don't think he is the answer to any of our problems but he does offer us something in terms of physical presence and workrate and he is a very steady player that will probably get us around 10 goals a season and as many again in assists. Plus he seems to be a model pro and a good influence around the club.

    Welcome back... again <ok>

Totally agree with this, can play in a number of positions.

Also i read somewhere that his family had already settled & loving the area because he had spent so much time here in the past.

Hopefully this will put some of the scaremongring stories to bed for the time being.

You see I was probably a bigger fan than most of Murphys in his time under PJ because I felt he puts in a good shift and added that bit of consistency compared to some of our flair players in the team when he played on the left and I thought he provided a decent foil for DJ or Chopra when playing uptop. But now we're loosing quite a few of our more flair/creative players like Martin & JETs on his way out, Chopra even to an extent Drury by signing Murphy we're adding a grafter to a team of grafters and our attacking options are looking fairly average.

I'm not overtly against this, like others have said he's a good pro and a consistent performer, he puts in a good shift and wants to sign for us but I'd like to see us sign a few more creative players. I think this is often why Mick has never acheived more than he has in the game because he usually puts together a team full of grafters without sometimes having that bit of extra quality or flair.

hasn't gone through yet has it?

decent addition to the side me thinks. So long as he is played through the middle.

Mick likes 4-4-2 home and away, so I cannot see Murphy playing wide left in the front 3 in the 4-5-1/ 4-3-3 system we often played away from home.

Looks like he'll be one of the four/ five strikers we have, so what will our frontline comprise next season?

    1- Murphy.
    2- McGodldrick.
    3- Nouble.

Have to add one or two to that, that's got me thinking, and I'm going to create another article !!

I certainly think he can play on the left or uptop but he needs fast/creative players around him. Westy you forgot to add Taylor and hopefully Marriott to that list.

Let's not forget Paul Taylor... although it's very easy too. (Plus Jack Marriott) I think Taylor could be pivotal for us next season. Also I think Mick will bring in another striker even if it is on loan

I hope Taylor is used but is he a Mick type player? And again he's one of those players who likes to play off the main striker as does McGoldrick, so not sure if the 2 can play together.

Paul Taylor may be out for a few more months depending on a certain court case!

Will be a good solid signing, will probably get us 10 goals next year and is a good utility player

Would be good if he signed permanently.I've always been impressed with his workrate and strength on the ball, good team player.

    Signed sealed and delivered.

We now have what I would say is a very solid base to build on. I'd say we need to get some attacking players with that real bit of quality now, a couple of wingers and a natural goalscorer/someone who plays on the shoulder of the last defender and maybe a playmaker in CM add to that some back up in defence and a GK. Things are starting to take shape, hopefully if we offload JET and particularly Chopra we'll be able to get that bit of added quality in certain areas. For me currently the biggest priority is a RW!!
