PDC to listen to offers for Sess?

12 million should be able to buy a lot of decent players, in fact i'd go as far as to say, we'd never get 12 million for him....

What does winning anything have to do with it? we bought Fletcher for a high fee and he hasnt won **** all. Sess has been a fantastic player when played it the right position. Under MON he didnt do brilliantly, but name me one player that did. MON sucked the life out of numerous players in the squad. Funny how Sess picked up as soon as MON was shown the door.

Sure, we could sell him and take a gamble by bringing in a few foreign players to replace him but why bother? especially for 7 million as you suggest.

We know Sess can perform in the premier league, we know he can turn a game around. We cant take the risk of selling him and bringing in players who might work out. Sure bring in players who can compete with him, but dont sell one of our few players with a bit of creativity for a fee that wont guarantee we will be able to bring in players who are the same quality. Selling him would force us to bring in additional players, when we already need 10 of them without even trying to replace Sess.

Your still avoiding answering the question of who we could get in to replace Sess (like for like replacement, in terms of quality and cost).

In terms of replacing him,

The fact is the vast majority of people on here (myself included) have a limited knowledge of players outside the premier league who don't play for champions league teams, so its difficult to say who we could get in to replace him from abroad.

But there are those players out there who offer good value.

Lets be honest here, who had honestly heard a lot about Alf before we signed him, he has turned out to be a cracking player at a good price.
 
It is the same as when Malbranque was sold, he was not replaced and Bent, we still could have had him and Sess.
 
when talking to other clubs fans, they nearly all regard sess as our best player and the biggest threat , i would love to see him in a decent team to show on a regular basis what he can do, idealy in a better set up under pdc with us.... he was the most fouled player in the prem this season , that must say some thing , shame we didnt have the players to make good use of all those free kicks.
 
Firstly, IMO I reckon this is the Journal pissing on our chips in typical mag fashion, putting us in our place - has anyone seen them commenting on the rumours - nothing very positive ever comes from their pages when it is about Sunderland.

Sess is a talent, a precocious one at that, however he has far too many games where he goes missing and the ones where he actually comes anywhere near to fulfilling his potential are as rare rocking horse manure - the best we normally get is a cameo - and i do not mean a red shiny cod piece (search Cameo "word up" on You Tube").

Sell him.?..........only if we have a sure fire replacement and we get a lot of money, think of it as pruning - some good growth has to go with the deadwood to allow room for the rest to flourish.

As to why DG gets dragged into it other than he is the fans current whipping boy I do not know.............

6 months ago I'd have sold him without thought and if an offer of some £15m was in the offing I'd still consider it but it is just as interesting to see what PDC can get out of him next season.

That said, if he has another season like the last one we have blown our chance of getting good money for him if we don't sell this summer.

For all their horse punching the mags do seem to have a decent policy of selling players for maximum price (ba aside) If a club comes in with a good bid, one that means we can buy replacements then why not? No player is bigger than the club.

Every player does have it's price true. But it has to be a hands off warning to anybody showing interest. One of our best players entering his prime. It would send the wrong message selling him if you ask me.

Is it two years he has left to run?

He infuriates me too. Sess is great on his day, but all to often he flatters to deceive with his fancy dribbling and no end product, because he doesn't release the ball soon enough, if at all and gets caught on the ball. Technically brilliant, but sadly lacks vision and awareness.

And this is his biggest problem. He can be devastating on his day but they are few and far between imo. More often than not he disappoints and has many making excuses for his poor show. He isnt a top striker; he isn't a top winger; he isn't a top playmaker; but he can be a little bit of all on his game. Is he worth £10m+ at 29? Not imo so if we got a daft offer in above that I'd be tempted.

If we brought in a proper 15 to 20 goal striker; a real pacy tricky wide man or a quick clever playmaker in for the the money would it be a bad deal? Selling him with no replacement is a dumb ass plan. Selling and replacing with better isn't?
 
Too much of "The Journal understands" quotes for me. This is the NEWCASTLE Journal we are talking about here. Why don't they name names if it is a story?

Well thankyou i do travel the country a heck of a lot , i have on my travels joined several clubs in order to pass the time away at nights away from my home and family, not so much as i used to but still i get about . the thing is all good players are watched by others if the interest is there about football not just your side but football in general.
And it is as said , ask any other fan who they would want its always sess or ming.

Of course, they are arguably our most valuable assets. Exactly the reason they should play here instead of being sold to be replaced by unknown quantities.

I agree with this cest as I have often thought of him as the type of player we couldn't afford, as a team we weren't good enough to afford a luxury player like him who IMO due to his lack of vision has cost us a lot. I would however like to see him stay with different players around him but just don't see where he would fit in? Thankfully these are decisions PDC will have to make!
 
Sunderland playmaker Stephane Sessegnon has expressed his desire to leave the club, reports Daily Express.

The highly rated midfielder has been linked with a number of England’s top sides following yet another impressive season at the Stadium of Light.

However, Daily Express has learned that he is rather looking to return to French Ligue 1, with Marseille reportedly ready to jump at the opportunity to sign the 29-year-old.

With the Benin international one of club’s highest earners, Sunderland officials are prepared to cash in on him if the price is right.

Sessegnon has largely impressed at the Stadium of Light ever since he joined from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2011.

He has clocked up a total of 85 Premier League appearances for the Black Cats and scored no less than 17 goals.

Sessegnon scored some crucial goals to help Sunderland survive another Premier League campaign as he netted against both Newcastle and Everton.
