I think, especially for the way we play, that of course we need strength back there and someone who can challenge something in the air. But, the way Rodgers plays.... are Lescott and Williams good with the ball at their feet? I know that might sound stupid with Rodgers having the same philosophy at Swansea and with Williams, but it is a different level, different pressue at LFC.

Williams is better in that regard than Lescott, but the latter can also play LB, (& did for the best part of a season for us) so he's more than capable of bringing the ball out from the back.

For me, I would like someone who can slot in at LB, gives the backline more balance for me.

and due to the "mystery name" RHC banied about....

Italian side Napoli have agreed a deal for Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez, 27. ( still a rumor but picking up pace)

It's not Gomez. It is either an AM or a winger/can play both. We are in for Papadopoulos but they want 20 mill for him and that isn't happening. We are also in for the Macedonian at Shakhtar Donetsk, but I can't remember the name. My mate says he's a good player.

Still no definitive news on 'the Big One' <doh>

papadopolous is a bad bet due to injury. I don't give a bollox if he's the next alan hanson, maldini and baresi all in one he's a risk cos he's crocked.

the other guy i've not even bothered looking up i've head the anme so many times but these guys out there are on tax free money and frankly its unlikely he'll show up.

I'm a mah as regrds big names today. if its not ronaldo then its not a big name <ok>

Luis Muriel, Erik Lamela and Henrik Mkrtchyan - would be an amazing summer if we could bag all 3.

I think you mean Henrik Mkrtchyan (Armenian) - very classy player who scores goals and creates, with the ability of playing in a number of position (wing, AM, CM, holding midfielder). Will come at a price but I think he would be worth it.

Never heard of any of them... What positions do they play?

Luis Muriel (22 years old) - nicknamed the Colombian Ronaldo (Brazillian Ronaldo - for both the good and bad reasons!). Similar to Suarez, can play across the front line or as the AM. He is also very similar to Suarez in that he's full of tricks and is a very exciting player to watch - also has good pace as well. Still raw but potential is huge.

Erik Lamela (21) - plays for Roma and one of their standout players IMO. Scored 15 goals in about 30 games in Serie A - even more impressive considering he plays on the wing. Great dribbling ability and good pac

Henrik Mkrtchyan (24/25) - one of the standout performers/leaders for Shakhtar. May be playing a lesser league but plays for the biggest team in the country and has experience of Champions League football. He's a classy player with great strength (able to use his body strength to keep the ball, great vision and passing ability). Can play across the front line, AM, CM or DM (holding mid and dictate the play). Scored 38 goals in all comps this season - can score and create.

The common trait is that all of these players are versatile who can play in a number of positions. Henrikh has definitely been scouted but we could be priced out of a move.

I'm not sure if the first are genuine targets but I hear we do have an interest in them (not sure how serious the interest is).

All three would have a serious impact on our attack, and all could be funded through a potential sale of Suarez.

Winger/AM, can be a c**t, can be a quality player, looks more and more like Nasri, however..
We don't have CL football
We are unlikely to match the wage he gets from City

In short, I still ain't got a clue!

would love us to sign the ukraine winger Evgen Konoplyanka (23 years old) i think he is one of the best wingers i have seen in europe for a while.

Interesting!!

What is that kid called, Luis Alberto?? Guillem Balague was bigging him up and saying it could happen.

Or maybe David Villa too??
