You should never travel just on an E111 card even if its to Spain, always take 3rd party insurance. A friend of mine was involved in an accident in Kiev once, ok not in the EU. But he was flown back to the UK in an air ambulance the insurance picked up the bill, it was over a £100k . Never ever go without cover
 
Agree though it does depend on where you go, Spain are a law unto themselves these days, France has a better system than ours and there is a small proportion you get charged up front, which you can claim back when you get home. As for holiday Insurance, I'm hearing more and more people getting stuffed by the small print, and if you have any pre existing medical conditions, you had better make sure you disclose them, though you'll not get cover for them!.............. <ok>
 
everyone in the EU are suppose to let each country and its members free emergency care while in their country...My advice is to use their facilities and when you come home report to our own government and forget about it. there is not a lot they can do about it...
 
The bulldozing of properties is nothing new in Spain (also happens in the UK). It normally happens when people chase a quick buck and don't go through the proper channels.Spains land law is different to ours so you have to be extremely careful - if it seems "too good to be true", it normally is!

They were nobodies mate, newspaper moles have little to no access to the decision makers in politics. We are talking about whips who are told what to say and told what to do by the senior officers in poltical parties, but the yes the point is even though they are small players with little to no power they are taking bungs.

That's a typical example Jager, though these cases run into their thousands, but even if your property is sound, there are thousands of Brits who can't sell their properties due to the colapse in value, because of the property market colapse in Spain!............... <ok>

It's a good time to buy there I guess, providing all the legal stuff is correct. I know it's probably in bad taste as people have lost everything, but in recessions you can make money as well. Though to much of gamble for me
 
I feel sorry only for those who are losing their home, I do not feel sorry for those who cannot sell because they bought with the intention of letting or making a profit. If it is a second home and they are struggling then it is tough luck in my opinion.

Most VRD have ploughed all the retirement savings, sold up in th UK, and moved lock stock and barrel! And most are in their late 50's or 60's, what should have been a life long retirement dream, has turned into a nightmare of huge proportions.......................<ok>

Are you speaking of those who are losing homes in the UK or in Spain?
