Matt Smith is my doctor, my first doctor as a regular viewer. Gutted to see him go, I think he's brilliant.

That said, change is always exciting ... but not the rumoured female casting

Yeah it always ends up fine. Eccleston > Smith > Tennant, but they've all been good. But frankly, if the series keep getting worse as they have been, I'll stop watching before long even if the new one is good.

The vast majority of this series was appalling. I really fancied Amy and Clara and Matt's brilliant but so many episodes were just crap. Maybe I'm just getting older.

Each to their own, and admittedley series 7 wasn't as good as the previous series, but I thoroughly enjoyed the previous series, with only one crap episode out of 13 I can think of.

    Steven Moffat is a genius.

Matt Smith is a brilliant Doctor, he's just too young. Eccleston was the best because he was a serious and older one. Most people, especially the ladies, will say that Tennant's the best. It's the new writer Moffat; it was okay under Davis where every once in a while there was an odd episode, but now that he's taken over the storylines have just got a bit silly.

I don't agree with this personally, it's mainly the standalone stories written by other writes that are weaker, Moffat's tend to be the stand out of the seasons.

Out of ideas after this long.

Ehhhhhhhh. I liked Moffat a LOT before he got the head writer job, all of the episodes he did before he took over were really, really good, but since... I dunno. The series 7 finale (and mid series finale, actually) were both really good so he's clearly not terrible, I just don't like the direction he's taking it as a whole. Episodes are, for the most part, either ludicrously crap or bland and forgettable, unlike the first few series with Eccleston and Tennant. I didn't like RTD at all, though, his episodes always tended to write themselves into a corner and rely on some deus ex machina to pull him out of it.

But is it Moffat's fault that other writes aren't writing them that well? I suppose he hires them, but he doesn't write for them. As I said, Moffat's episodes do tend to be the stand outs, whereas it's the independent writes that seem to let the series down in the main.

The direction of the show, I feel, needs to change however ... we've had the same story for over 3 years now and we're no closer to tieing everything up.
