Just out of curiosity who has been your least favourite player over the last 3 seasons, I hate to be disrespectful about any southampton player over the last few seasons as we as a team have archived so much.

I have my opinion but get shot down as soon as I mention him. I would like to see what you say so I no it's just me being a blind idiot or just have the same opinion as a few others.

Some players aren't as good as others, but I can't think of one who hasn't tried to the best of their abilities.

Frustratingly, it so often seems that the players putting in the dodgiest performances tend to be the ones who seem like the nicest guys. De Ridder, Hooiveld and Chaplow spring to mind. I can't really dislike any of them. And it's not so much that anyone hasn't been pulling their weight, as I think everyone has given 100%, but some are just a bit limited in terms of talent.

There have more and less effective Saints players, but they've all tried their best, I've no doubt. That's something that can't be said of every player in the PL.

Names like Nasri and Adebayor cropped up, week in, week out, for not breaking into a sweat.

I can't accuse any of the Saints players for not pulling their weight. But there are a few I could accuse of having a lack of talent.

In terms of effort, I can honestly say no player has really let me down in terms of the effort they've put in. Think some aren't quite up to the Premier League, but that's not because they don't work hard. You have to be a very very good player to even be at a Premier League squad, so I don't agree with the notion by the some of our "mentally limited" fans that Guly is useless. A useless player doesn't often score 11 goals in six months from out on the wing whilst being played out of position, so that theory is utter tripe.

In terms of contributions, I don't think there are any players over the past three years that have pulled on the saints shirt and not given it 100% . I mean yeah people may say fox and guly but they've certainly pulled their weight. Think about fox's fantastic deliveries that have led to crucial goals. Guly as well has popped up in the championship and league one with some important goals as well. Every player has tried a contributed in some way , but agreeing with others here , not all of them have the ability to out their efforts into something extraordinary at this level.

Fox is a good example...no one could doubt how much he cares, but he's just not good enough. Now if only he could teach one of our 'better' players how to deliver from the corner.

I don't see the point in singling out players and criticising them, as mentioned above I havn't seen a single player who hasn't tried as hard as they could. You can discuss players who aren't quite up to the job but everybody who has started or been brought on as a sub has tried their hardest. Even Fox who has been a scapegoat all season has stepped in for Luke and put in some reasonable performances- for a player to come back after some shocking matches and put a shift in shows strength in character and deserves credit.

To discuss players who aren't up to this level please see the thread dedicated to players likely to be released. If you are unable to see real quality and want to slag off Gaston then their are many threads on here dedicated to this. If you decide that Guly is lazy, due to his loping gait, despite the fact that he has been our fastest player in some of the games he has played, I refer you to the (slag off) Guly thread. I hope this helps you to persecute the appropriate players in the via the appropriate channels.

Agree with Fran. We all rejoice when Fox's name isn't on the team sheet, but we definately miss his freekicks and corners.

While I agree with everything said on here its a funny though talking about a 'lack of talent'. Obviously I know what you guys mean and I agree with you. The sad thing is though all of these 'less talented' players have more talent in their little finger than I will ever have. It would be fun to play against a player like Chaplow just to see how good he really is, I'm sure I wouldn't even get close to him.

He'd seem like Messi compared to any non-pro.

We used to have a ringer from the first team (semi-pro) occasionaly turn out for our sunday leage third team. He played left back for the first team, but for us he was played as a striker, and used to get most of the goals when he played.

Good point TBD. I played against a few pros after they have finished and it is scary how good they are. I remember playing against Neil Webb and he was huge, really fat. I was about 26/27 and pretty fit. He didn't break sweat. I hardly touched the ball. My favourite example though is off when I was 18, fit as a butchers dog and played against Billy Bonds. I looked at the team sheet and smirked to myself as I thought this 41 year old would get his legs in a knot... he ran me off the pitch first, then he outplayed me, then just to prove he still had it, he kicked me off it too. The gap was enormous.

This thread is pretty disrespectful, whether you want to be or not. The only one I can think of is Puncheon, who has been pretty disruptive at times during the last three seasons, but he seems to have got over that now. As others have said, I don't think I could accuse any of the players of not trying or having a negative impact. Some of them aren't up to the current level but that's not really their faults, and most have contributing to getting us where we are now.

you shoot ahead fella! I mean i wouldn't go right up to their face and mug them off but i think ur ok doing it on here!

Here is my top 3 disappointments:
    1) Lallanas not doing more better
    B) Ramirez not doing more better
IV) Mayukas not doing more better

I also think fox could get more tattoos & morgan needs to be more playboy lifestyle routing out local talent

If you say things that people don't agree with then you shouldn't take it so much to heart.

As far as our players are concerned they are just like you and me. They will find their level and it wont be because they're lazy.

Some of our players found themselves in a PL squad and weren't up to it but that hasn't stopped them trying their best.

Thank goodness they aren't like Cameron. He has found himself Prime Minister and isn't up to it and he hasn't even bothered to try.
