Article on OS about how Luke has promised to return fitter for preseason. Says the number of injuries he has sustained may be due to age but also due to lifestyle. He has spoken to Mauricio and the coaches and promised to be a new person next season...the old one was pretty good so sounds good to me.
It's easy to forget the sacrifices sportsmen and women have to make. I know footballers are well rewarded, but there's very little room in the game now for boozy weekends and late nights. The young me would've had no chance, although lack of ability was also an issue.
This can only be good news. The number of knocks and tweaks and niggles he picked up this year was starting to slightly bother me. Hopefully he can look after himself better and it won't be an issue any more.
Spot on. To make it at the top, they need to be 100% focused and this includes lifestyle. Women, Red wine, cheese, beer, chocolate, crisps, sausages, Yorkshire pudding and many other things are obviously the reason I didn't win 175 caps for England
If he keeps progressing I am sure he will be England's left back for a long time after the current Cole and soon to be Baines period.
It's mainly his age. He isn't fully developed. We didn't rotate him enough or give him enough rest. We were obviously desperate to stay up and willing to take the risk that he might get injured from playing too much too often. Luckily he avoided anything serious.
He actually mentioned on the SFC OS that he returned to the last pre-season in poor condition, and he obviously believes his poor lifestyle is contributing to his time out. Could be. Morgan got a similar wake up call a few seasons back.
It may be at least partly due to his young age, but if the fitness coaches and nutritionists feel a change would benefit him, I'm not going to argue with them.
Yes it's a factor but he's 17. He's not developed enough or had the training history to have the stamina of the other players in the squad. That's the main problem considering he's in good enough shape, has decent pace and strength.
Yes, Schneiderlin mentioned recently that he was a new man after a few weeks of food being sent in by the club. Perhaps they could provide the same service for us
The club has asked too much of him at times this season. He is still only a lad and needs to build his strength and stamina steadily. He hasn't finished growing yet FFS.
If he's been performing half-fit with a dodgy lifestyle, I can't wait to see him fully fit with a good lifestyle
