No Chelsea fan I know wanted AVB to fail, in fact, many including myself wished him all the best when we parted ways..... Until he started slagging off the fans/owner/players on a regular basis. Whether he fails or succeeds as a manager remains to be seen, but he should be judged based on what he achieves at Spurs or even what he achieved at Porto, not Chelsea.

Agreed, employ me in his stead. I could get Stoke relegated for half the money that Hughes would charge for the same result. I wouldn't even bother to waste money on signings, I could get them relegated without any of that rubbish. I would even make them a few bob by selling all of their players. (except Adam of course, I'm not that good).

  4. Utterly unbelievable!

There is a thread currently running over on the Gooner board (entitled "What are our realistic expectations for next season?") - note the use of the word "realistic" - to which a good number of the usual suspects have been making posts, in which they (the usual suspects - not the intelligent Gooners) have been trying to assess their realistic expectations for next season. Naturally, within a very short time, they've managed to whip themselves up into a man-cream-spewing frenzy with all of them telling us that they'll be challenging for the title.
    <doh>

I'm not making this up! Go and read it for yourselves.

This is the team that had more luck in the EPL last season than any other side, and yet still managed only to just about scrape into the Top 4 on the very last day of the season, a massive one point ahead of us, who have the worst strike-force in any division anywhere in the world and with us having been beset with injury the whole season. It's also the team that finished so far behind United that, if I were to put this on a galactic scale, it would be like me predicting that next season NASA will be sending a manned space rocket to Proxima Centauri (the nearest star to our own Sun), which is 4.22 light years away, and would take the rocket around 18,000 years to get to. Ask even the dimmest Gooner if he thought it realistic that NASA would succeed with its mission, and he recognise that most of the astronauts on board the rocket would be dead by the time it arrived at the star; but ask the same dim Gooner to rate his chances of winning the title next season and he'd be the one counting down the lift-off for that very rocket!

    Unbelievable!

So, you do my reckon much to their chances then?....;)

  6. I'd rate 'Pool's chances higher than AFC's, as at least 'Pool has pedigree for winning titles (even though that is, now, ancient history).

I tell you, some of the thought-processes being expended by those Gooners is so painfully slow, it's giving me a headache!

Seriously, the one thing the Goons are good at, and we are currently not, is putting the " lesser" sides to the sword. Essentially, they are the archetypal flat track bullies.

All this leads me to the conclusion that at had we had the striker(s) we needed, we would probably have won some of those games - especially at home - that we either lost 1-0 or drew. We would then have almost certainly finished ahead of the Goonies.

Arsenal have won 13 league titles, the third highest in English football! I would call that pedigree.....

Apart from that, I think they can be a force to be reckoned with if Wenger actually spends some money for once.
But it all depends on what signings they make and whether they are forced to sell their best players in the summer as has been the case the last two years.
    Its too early to say....
History suggests the board will play it cheap and end up barely scraping a CL spot and the fans will celebrate like they have won the title again.
    But you never know....

Saw a group of Dortmund fans milling around East Croydon earlier.

I'm sure I heard them compare the area to Dresden circa 1945...

You're right NSIS, Arsenal are flat track bullies. The problem for them is that for 8 or 9 seasons that's all they've been. The better teams tend to highlight their shortcomings.

A good bombing would work wonders for Croydon. It's an aesthetic abortion!..

Pedro Pinto on CNN said that Bayern's win "was no fluke." Obviously a reference to Chelsea last season.

Yeah, I just don't think burning down Reeve's furniture store is quite going to be enough to change the landscape.

The main problem is half of Croydon high street is empty lots anyway, so emptying Richer Sounds, Currys/PC World and Argos at least helped the aesthetic. Meanwhile, it says a lot that Hobbycraft on the Purley Way was untouched, whilst everything chavvy got raided...

Believe it or not, it hasn't changed much in 40 odd years. I think it probably never got bombed during the war because the Germane flew over, took a look, and said " **** it, we've already done this place"

Clearly none of you lot have ever been to Tottenham High Road, Bruce Grove, Lansdowne Road etc or you wouldn't have the cheek to slag off Croydon <doh>
