Danny Rose, Steven Caulker, Adam Smith and Andros Townsend have all been called up for the England U21 squad for this summer's tournament.
The UEFA U21 European Championships will take place in Israel and start on June 5th. Their opening tie will be against Italy.

It's a shame for one or two of our other players, but I think that this probably makes a statement about how much our youth sides have improved.
It's been a long time since we produced a decent crop of youngsters, but we seem to have really changed our policies and it's working.
Credit to all involved, especially the players themselves. <ok>

Terrific news. There"s also the under 20 World Cup taking place this June, so I am hoping some of our players feature in that, particularly as Chris Ramsey is the England assistant coach for this tournament.

All fully merited in my opinion. All 4 have had impressive seasons, best of luck to them.

Those 4 should all be starting every game too, not just fringe players.

I'd personally be happy to throw all of them into our starting XI next year.

I take it the tournament will be on Sky Sports? We've done pretty well in tournaments under Pearce, lets hope our lads get a look in.

Has the German squad been announced yet ?? Just wondering if they have included Lewis Holtby.

Pearce was watching our under 21's recently in their 0-0 draw at Southampton. Caulker played in that game. So too did Tom Carroll who I was hoping to see included in this squad.

Andros Townsend has withdrawn from the under 21 squad after receiving an FA charge relating to alleged betting offences.

"Townsend will receive the full support of the FA and Tottenham in seeking rehabilitation while responding to the allegations" - The FA.
Gambling addiction, possibly?

I think that's probably a standard response when they face a gambling charge. A bit like if a player got fined for getting drunk before a game, the club are probably obliged to offer counselling if he says he has a drink problem.
