There are as many criminals who are white or christian. Was Jimmy Saville muslim? All this outrage over this particular, disgusting act just shows there is still far too much racism in the country. Theres been loads of similar crimes where a white man has killed.

I would rather be shot than ever be ruled by the BNP/EDL.

I took a lot of stick for closing the original thread, and I'm absolutely gutted that we may have lost redruth over it, but that was my main reason for closing it! <ok>

    Thanks for the link welly!

Dave you did the right thing.

I'm sad about Redruth and I appreciate where he is coming from, but you can't have those kind of posts on a public forum. It's just wrong.

The only consolation,if Redruth has gone over it,was that he started it.(The thread I mean) I understand that feelings run high but even JWM and myself didn't fall out to that extent over Thatcher despite being as far apart on the issue as it's possible to be.I did PM Redruth over it but have not had a reply.

    Also Dave.

It's hard to come back from writing stuff like that because some of it was totally outrageous, like ncfcpaul'c comments and ILD's.

I'm not sure if there were any Muslims that read the original thread but if there were we could be talking about arrests and things now, because that is all it takes as proved by the links that have been put up above.

I didn't see what Redruth posted so can't really comment, all i will say is this.

I have/had plenty of coloured friends of different religions, and i can safely say that we have joked and said stuff which could well be construde as racism, but they laugh about it and give stuff back. They know I'm not racist and their colour doesn't make a difference to me and they don't want some person on a PC trip fighting a battle for them.

Please don't start me on this human rights crap, my view is that if you have taken away anybodies human rights (i.e. robbed, killed, maimed etc) my view is you have given away you rights to human rights.

My experience is similar several black (oops nearly wrote coloured) customers.Never an issue with any of them and would be more than happy to have them as friends so I would contest the argument that this is a race issue except in the fevered minds of the most PC.Religion in general happens to be a bete noir for me though.

I don't wish to get into an argument with you Guru mate, but there is a big difference between depriving someone of their liberty (as a result of criminal activity) and depriving them of basic human rights.

I was a District Councillor for many years.Elected by a ward that had only ever had Tories.I would count one ex council leader (Tory) as a friend. He didn't like Thatch though.

Fairplay to you CT, I admire your political conviction and the fact that you have held public office and given up your time to represent your constituents <ok>

Nothing good is going to come of this thread. I'm not sure if it's worth contributing to anymore.

So you think if somebody sent down for breaking and entering, is then allowed to bleat that their human rights are affected when a prison decides they can't have a TV in their cell?

Some of these prisons are like bloody holiday camps, yet the poor victims have to go through a mental hell!

Now here you see I am going to become a liberal lefty.Simply because I am convinced that putting people in the slammer without any attempt to rehabilitate will just turn them out as worse crims. It not about being nice to them. I thought that "Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime" was a self evident truth.

I'm a bit confused here mate. I don't think my post implied anything of the sort.

Sorry JK, I probably took it the wrong way.

My view is that everybody has human rights, but the day you invade on somebody elses human rights, thats it!

No worries pal. Civil/human rights/liberties can sometimes be rather subjective and complex, so misunderstandings are to be expected!
