bothroyd, wanted by a few?

Seems like bothroyd is a wanted man, although i'm not overly struck on him, maybe the first club to make a serious enquiry, will be the one who gets him.


Fulham boss Mark Hughes has reportedly been alerted by the availability of Cardiff striker Jay Bothroyd on a free transfer.

The 29-year-old won his first full England cap last November and was the Welsh club's leading scorer in the Championship last season, but he has not been able to agree a new deal at Cardiff. And, despite the Bluebirds' best efforts to keep him, Bothroyd is available on a free transfer.
Hughes has already indicated that he would like to bolster his forward line during the summer transfer window which is why it is no surprise to see him heavily linked with a possible swoop for the player.
However, the Welshman will not have it all his own way, as Everton, Newcastle and Sunderland are keen on the player as they look to strengthen their striking options

 

Bloody hell Mark Hughes must be slow. He's been available since January. For a free he's a no brainer for for 6'3 good in the air and skillfull with the ball. When we need 2 or 3 strikers, a free like bothroyd should be snapped up quick as it leaves extra funds funds available for a big money signing 2. personally id love to wake up to the headline "Sunderland sign bosman trio" Vaughan, Larsson, Bothroyd" followed by Dj Campbell for £1m. 4 players in and only a million spent. Leaves money for a top goalscorer, nzogbia, cb and a lb

 

well mate we could miss out on all of them if bruce doesn't act quick.

larsson, blackburn are interested.

bothroyd, seems a few are looking.

and someone will snap campbell up pretty sharpish.

so unless he gets a move on, we could miss out on the free's, then will have to pay top whack for the equivalent players.

I agree. We are going to miss the boat time and time again if we wait as long as SNQ stated in his interview.

 

I don't think getting in quick will do anything. Obviously these guys know that several clubs are interested in them so they will talk to them all before making a decision.

Think snq is being clever.
There will be 3 or 4 free/cheap signings but niall seems to like bringing the big name(s) in just before kick off to boost morale and season ticket sales. Would prefer them all in for pre season friendlies.

 

The players who are not involved on international duty could well be away on their hols now or about to go on them.

SNQ deserves a little more respect from ourselves with regards to pursuing transfers - he rarely fails to deliver as Malbranque says.

Should 606 be closed down for a couple of weeks so everyone can calm down and get things back in perspective?

 

we're not on about the major movers or shakers, but the one's that are free, and have that bit of quality to add strength to the squad, need to be secured pretty sharpish, or they will be taken.

the big transfer action will happen later, when stupid money becomes involved.

if you fancy a holiday, enjoy yourself mate, get the batteries re-charged, as it's not too long till it starts again.

If they wanted one of these players badly enough then they could have had pre contract talks in February of this year.

Why are we so "down" on our club, we have shown if we want a player then we have a pretty good go at getting him and until the deal is in the offing the club don't say anything.

Perhaps if the club issued a twice daily statement giving their transfer targets, the efforts made to sign them, the fee offered and the status of the transfer then maybe, just maybe some of our supporters maybe be satisfied.

I do need a holiday, away from not606's self flagellating articles/comments(a laughable example was the discussion about should we re-sign Darren Bent or not, ffs, why not just discuss whether there is life on mars, will we ever discover perpetual energy or a cure for the common cold).

 

Strange you should mention holidays mate, because as i type this, (considering the season has ended) i am watching Uruguay v Germany live, with suarez, forlan ,maxi etc. so maybe all the football hasn't ended, and how long of a holiday do you want to give them? It's hardly like they have a proper hard working job.

Well if there is football still going on then those players involved will be even less likely to be involved in transfer moves, very few deals are concluded this close to the end of the football season

cheers Commachio, I'm in Grumpy old man mode, put it down to the disruption caused by Take That, disrupted cricket coverage and being dragged out to socialise on the darkside with the outlaws when I would rather not bother.

 

well not that you'll be too bothered, but germany are winning 2-0 at half time, looks like they are building yet another new team.

suarez looks ****ed, pretty much like all his tram-mates, but them germans look bright and lively.

never mentioned grumpy, but maybe a holiday will do .enjoy it if you get one mate.

With all the take that disruption, perhaps SNQ is trying to get williams on a free. Orange was looking for 50 grand a week. Screw him.
