I like Insigne but I can't see Napoli selling him if they really are letting Cavani go to city.

A long, exciting and potentially frustrating one I think!

Lorenzo Insigne is an exceptional talent.

He has had a good season with Napoli but has failed to hit the heights that many were expecting in what was supposed to be his break out season in Serie A. He has played a significant part in qualification for the Champions League but has found it difficult playing in the huge shadow of Edison Cavani.

A couple of seasons ago he was loaned to Pescera where he fired them to the title with around 20 goals. He was called up to the national team and was seen by many as the eventual heir to Del Piero/ Totti. He was the major factor (along with the big stack of cash) in Napoli not fighting to hard to keep Lavezzi when PSG came calling, as they saw him as his natural replacement.

I would say it is very unlikely that we would be able to sign him, what with CL football and Napoli not seeming to have any financial problems (if the proposed double swoop for Astori and Naingollan is anything to go by).

But when Cortese is involved you can never say ‘never’.

Nice informative article there! It's a start though, good to be linked with these sort of players even if it is a tad realistic. I mean Ramirez seemed a long shot but Bologna are not big players in the Italian league but this guy plays for Napoli... Champions League football and all.

Wouldn't we all, I would guess Chelsea would want to keep him after the season he has had? If they don't then there is going to be a mad scramble for his signature!

The Sun are reporting that Vermaelen can leave for 5mil.
Anybody think we could get him or not?

Vermaelen is certainly an upgrade on what we have and I wouldn't be against his signing at all.

I think Vermaelen would want big money and probably European competition, think it's unlikely he would come to us.

Same goes for Insigne really, just doesn't seem like a goer. It's not comparable to the Ramirez signing because Bologna were desperate for money and not able to offer European football, neither of which apply to Napoli.

Well i imagine whom ever we sign.. if it is to be the caliber for European football will certainly act as the catalyst for other players to follow the project!

Most Chelsea fans think he is going on loan again, but almost certainly to a Europa League team or Champions League. Friend who gets a lot of Chelsea stuff right thinks Swansea are the most likely destination

Talk on twitter is of Benteke to Athletico Madrid with the money they get from Falcao, should be a good pay day for Villa, but a difficult player to replace.

I think it will depend on who the new manager is. I think if it's Mourinho, then Lukaku will stay and play the role of Drogba, which I believe is the reason they signed him originally.

Personally I think he'd be awesome at Arsenal and would much rather he signed for them on loan than any of our more realistic rivals. Hopefully Benteke will leave Villa, another who could be successful at Arsenal, as he seemed to keep them up by himself.

I don't think Chelsea would want to significantly strengthen one of their direct rivals.

Lukaku will surely stay at Chelsea, being one of the best strikers in the league this season. Benteke has been linked with Dortmund, but I suppose Arsenal could have a shot at nicking him.

I think it will take big money for Villa to part with Benteke. Can see him staying, personally.
