Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov is set to be offered back to former club Spurs after he was omitted from the team for the Champions League final.

Now this rumour could have a lot of implications if it happened.

Old harry would probably be looking to ofload a striker or two, all of who safc are rumoured to be interested in, at one time or another.

But the way i would like bruce to be thinking would be, sod spurs if berbatov is available, and looking like he's off, try and make a bid, would cost a lot, but would be worth it.

However in reality, could we really tempt him, doubt it, but it seemed like a good idea.

Cost big money, big wages and I think he's a luxury player, certainly something that we don't want/need at the moment. Remember Jones? 1 good game in 3 (or even 4). To be honest I don't even think he'd come to us so the point is mute anyway.

He is a class player, and one of the top scorers in the league, and mainly from sub.

But the article was supposed to be mainly about if he went to spurs, and the knock on effect it could have.

Berbatov coming to sol is a pipe dream, but it would be nice to think we could attract players of that quality.

Same scenario as bent, sometimes you have to pay to get quality.

I would still love a Crouch-Defoe strike force

Arry wouldn't say he wanted a player to knock down his own players value lads, as for the players he does have Crouch had his chance and his lass will not let him move this far North Defoe a possible if anything.

Would deffo take Pav, would add another dimension to the team and I reckon would play well off Gyan. Don't think Defoe would want a permanent nosebleed if he did come to us and as for crouch well as Talc said he had his chance and his missus put her foot down so he can stay in the far south as far as I'm concerned.

Heard Pav was going back to Russia with Arshavin St Petersburg I think it was that could be why Berbatov to Spurs is up and running. Still can't see Man Utd taking a loss on him after 2 (is it) seasons. They bought him for something like 30 mil, Spurs will not pay that for him. Having said that Arry does have form for bringing old players back so they could be something in it.

Berbatov is a class player but needs to be in a team of talents that can make up for his biggest weakness. He's a lazy bastard.

He makes Kenwyne Jones look like a work-a-holic.

Not for me at any price and we'd seriously be better off as a club and a team with DJ Campbell than Dimitar Berbatov and it would save us a kings ransom to boot.

He is a player with undoubted quality, but he is a luxury player. Someone who doesn't like to work but can always score. At the minute we can;t afford (not in monetary terms, but that also) a player like him, as good as he is.
