Carrolls transfer is'nt cut & dried yet,the clubs have agreed a fee so it's up to Carroll to decide, which he hasn't done yet, could be waiting hoping a bigger club come in for him,or maybe the barcodes
No Liverpool fan is going to admit it on this thread but i cannot imagine any of you were happy with spending that amount on Carroll. As it happens i think he's a decent enough player but if you had been asked how you would spend that 50 million i doubt you'd have gone down that road. He's made a shrewd call staying at west ham - needs regular first team football this season if he's to have a real chance of getting in the England starting line up (should we qualify of course) and Liverpool can't automatically offer that.
Yeah ok. We scored more goals than Spurs, conceded less goals than Spurs and obviously had a better goal difference than Spurs, we lost one more league game than Spurs so if we're treading water your club aren't exactly on dry land.
Small point in your carefully selected stats, you won 5 less games and gained 11 less points. In the PL that's equivalant to you being in the Irish Sea and us being on top of the North Downs.
Same applies to Barfly's midtable jibe, we finished 12 points better off than the team directly below us. You finished 5th(fair play for that), you were light years behind the Mancs and weren't good enough for a top 4 slot and now enter a competition that will take its toll on you next season. So all in all Spurs haven't got much to brag about.
Light years behind the Mancs? Yeah would that be the United that we beat at their home and drew at ours and City who when we last played them we won 3 - 1. Inter Stella travel is more than possible then.
Stop moving the goalposts Spurf, your first win at OT since Nelson had two eyes and the draw at the Lane never stopped them winning the league and never got you into a top 4 berth, its all about the points tally at the end of season you said.
The one thing you're not taking in to the equation is the fact you end up with out Torres and without Carroll and that 27m was Downing and the money you had to give Cole to leave so we got Torres a 2 time Euro Winner with US, West Ham get Carroll and you have Downing
So much for their new transfer policy of buying young to improve and then sell on. 120M under KKK and 50M under Rodgers and they are in the same league position as when they started
No doubt the Carroll transfer is perhaps the worst in football history. Couldn't believe it at the time and want to forget it now. Hope we get the £15m and reinvest it.
We had the youngest team in the league on average over this season. It doesn't sweaten finishing in ****ty 7th but at least it bodes well for the future that we don't have an ageing team like United
Really? Thought you had the youngest squad, but it was between Villa and Southampton who had the youngest team on average on actual matchdays?
To think Carroll to Liverpool, Torres to Chelsea and Bent to Villa all happened in that window; over 100 million spent!! Next to Carroll and Bent, Torres verges on looking a success; certainly when medals are counted.
And to think the same three players may be moving in this window too, with the total value being about half that!
