Hi there,
If you're sick of football culture ruining our sport, think footballers should be better role models for our children and think Footballers should have more respect for our football clubs and our hard earned pennies. Then show the PFA what you think by signing this petition and potentially trigger a revolution that can change our beloved sport for the better.

Please, if you choose to sign, state your team and show it's in the national interests and for the good of football.

Parents should be role models for children. If they were, and didn't require media personalities (essentially what footballers are) to show their offspring how to function in society, (because they either cannot or will not show them themselves,) then there would be no need for this petition.

As for footballers ruining football, its a bit more complicated than that. The clubs that voted to start the EPL essentially started this runaway train that is football. Before, that gate money was shared with the away club and money was funneled to the lower divisions. The sums involved mean that clubs need instant results, hence the influx of foreign players and the lack of home grown players breaking into teams. The prevalence of agents in the game mean that average players command giant salaries and the likes of you and me paying our Sky subscription means that their wages will keep on rising.

As for the players, sure there are a few arseholes. But there are a few plumbers that are arseholes and Barristers and just about every other profession. They are lucky enough to have a set of skills that is very much in demand and commands a huge wage. And to be honest, if I was a player and thought some trappy font of all knowledge would accost me every time I went down the pub guess what? I wouldn't go down the pub. and I'd buy a big house, nice cars and go on fantastic holidays. Just like you would.

Don't blame footballers, the Tories, bankers, the media or anyone else for societies ills. It's too easy. We have a largely ill educated, ill disciplined generation of parents bringing up even less educated, and disciplined kids. We need to look a bit closer to home. As for football, the game we loved as boys is gone. We never had any control over that game and we don't over this one.
 
I can understand why Sunderland fans would be annoyed by the behaviour of some of their players and why the management would like to discipline them.
If they've done so fairly and not crossed any lines, then there shouldn't be a problem.
The PFA is there to look after it's members' interests, but there won't be anything that they can do if Di Canio hasn't broken any rules.
Not sure that a petition is necessary in this case, though I do agree that players have to uphold certain levels of professionalism and respect.
 
Di canio still refuses to admit it was wrong to give a nazi salute on a football pitch or to describe himself as a fascist, or to say mussilini had some good ideas...his attitude was and still is far far worse than that of the players he seeks to discipline ... **** him and everything the nazi loving **** stands for!

If Di Canio wasn't a manager he'd be yobbing it up with the Lazio Ultras every week, the same people who racially abused a number of our players. I feel no inclination to support him, if he hasn't broken any rules he can't be punished <ok>

Personally I suspect he has overreacted, and that what went on at Sunderland is no worse than what happens at every club (Brighton and Stoke perhaps excluded).

Spot on. A Nazi with poor impulse control too. I give him until Christmas.
