If press speculation is correct one these two strikers could join us in the Premier League next season.

    Which would you rather have?

Everytime I have been reading Austins name on here I have been picturing that fat git Charlie Adam who use to play for Liverpool. Now I realise you mean the Burnley player.... How is he not attracting more attention? It seems Zaha nutmegs a few defenders and he is worth 20 Million and Austin bags 40 goals and we are first in line to sign him? Surely he will go bigger than us?

Ignoring the financial side, definitely Rhodes. Taking dollars into account I'd go for neither.

I'd take a punt on one, not fussed on which one as they've both had a similar goal return.

We then need an experienced PL striker - Odemwingie would be ideal. Goal threat relevant.

Then maybe i'm being greedy but Grant Holt/Kenwyne Jones/Cameron Jerome. Someone sizeable to get on the end of crosses!

Re Austin/Rhodes - it would be based on which one is quickest. PL is mostly about pace, so whichever one is quicker over 10/20 yards would get my vote.

Totally agree Premier League is mostly about pace, I know it's said a lot but that's because it is true. You have to be able to run the full length of the pitch and get on the end of that cross and for that reason Rhodes might be a better shout. (Although can't see us signing him).

Aluko will rip the PL apart imo.

O/T...Crystal Palace star striker Glenn Murray the championships top goal scorer is OUT for 9 months after a knee op. Cruciate. Injury suffered in the Brighton PO semi first leg. SSN report today.

As well as. Reality as I have stated before we need a proven striker at PL level, a gamble (Austin/Rhodes) and a wildcard.

Depends on the cost really. I'd much rather have Rhodes, but if we're outpriced, I definitely wouldn't mind Austin.

The only problem with Austin is, he wore off through the course of the Season, but 20 goals by December is definitely impressive.

Rhodes is the better of the two but both have never played in the top flight and may turn out to be gash or they may turn out to be another Jay Rodriguez.

I'd love to see us sign Rhodes and have him up-front with Aluko. Unfortunately he's well out of our price range. Hell, he'd be out of our price range at half of what Blackburn paid for him!

Rhodes will be out of our price bracket and I wouldn't enter a bidding war for Austin above £3million. We are more likely to end up with the likes of Kevin Davies and Odemwinge

How will the financial fair play rules affect these championship teams with massive wage bills?

I still think we need a big complete forward type striker rather then hobbits. No wonder we don't score from corners.

I would say neither, but if it's a choice based purely on talent then I'd want Rhodes. I don't understand why we aren't looking abroad for a striker, like Wigan did with Kone. Helder Postiga and Rolando Bianchi are both scoring goals in similar quality sides in La Liga and Serie A. Both have had previous stints in the PL and didn't do well but are much more experienced now. I'd prefer City to take a few extra risks and get foreign talent in rather than overrated English talent.
