We've been excellent. I really cannot believe we haven't been awarded a penalty though. Both of those would have been given at the other end. No doubt about it.
I am not going to mention styles today but Wes has proved that he has the ability to control midfield play with his flair. You don't always get the final ball off him I know, but when he is in the mood to drop off and give the midfield an easy out ball and switch play as he does, he is still one of our best.
We're playing some good stuff. I do sort of wish we'd have a crack from a bit further out. Hoolahan has been immense, Holt looks like wants a goal too.
Wes is certainly going to be giving Hughton a headache ahead of next season. Arguably the most influential player on the pitch right now. But, if Hughton allegedly wants to go 4-4-2 with a RvW-Holt partnership, that's going to surely cost Hoolahan his place, as I can't see Hughton being adventurous enough to play all 3 and have a single holding midfielder.
What I can never understand is why players that have such ability and skill cannot adapt in to a slightly different role. The basics are the same, control the ball, pass it, move etc. Why is that so hard to do?
Except that if we don't sign a winger and play a midfield diamond or 4-3-3... From what I've seen of RvW, he doesn't look like he is a striker who enjoys playing with wingers
To be honest, it sounds unbelievable, but we're all over them. Many more shots on target, a clearance off the line, two crosses that were inches from being turned in by Holt and Rusty, two clear penalties and they managed a wonder goal. We're even playing great football. I can see we're destined to lose this. We have to capitalise on the parts of the game where we are on top better next season. I really believe RvW will be able to do this
I can always see Wes coming off the bench and changing games. Not a fan of 4-4-2 it's a prehistoric formation, I prefer to have a mobile team with layers I find 4-4-2 too static.
