Tell you something - today I was told by a staff member 62 years of age no kiddie,a very good friend of his who owns a insurance company and is very good friends of SL.

Alarming news SL is getting really naffed off by footballers who are very very greedy.
He said major investment is going to the rugby boys.
I went on the link wiz and one in particular has hit it on the head.
 
How can they possibly be getting greedy when half of the teams below NPC level are hanging on by a thread, and that is BEFORE the advent of FFP...?

As we know, the big money is in the PL so unless they are that standard, they will be lucky to have a job never mind get greedy...

Lansdown has said on more than one occasion that rumour has absolutely no truth to it whatsoever... but hey it makes them feel better in their little world of financial non existence. :emoticon-0181-fubar
 
The fans, managers, owners are fed up of the agents who keep telling their clients you are worth more than you are getting just to get their extra percentage also how many times have you read that an agent has asked for a better contract for a player based on interest from another club? when the only interest was really the agent contacting other clubs like a pimp out looking for clients for his whore. Football would be better off without all the leeches that are now involved.

Red.......Steve Lansdown has always been alarmed at the rising costs not only to attract the better players but the wage demands even when you were in L1 before promo,so following your stint in the championship his views have hardened.

Whilst it is a lower cost option (Rugby) the players (not all) are just as egotistical and into the money side remember they are also proffessional sportsmen and have a limited shelve life and its also a job.

Wiz hate to agree with you but the forum members whilst entitled to there views, are showing signs of simple Myopia which is V sad,We would be happy to have a business man similar to Steve L (or SL himself) backing Rovers.

Bristol City are his first love the other sports are behind them in the investment stakes......Forum fans Jealous you say "I could not possibly comment"

Good luck for the upcoming season your going to need it with all the personnel changes and financial restrictions now in place.

I addressed this a few months ago. FFP is not an issue for us, nor will it be for a while.

Lansdown surely isn't an idiot. He is in the business of managing money so surely he above anyone else would know how much it costs to run a football club, and he'll also know that running a club on the cheap is not an option if you want a successful club.

As a sport, Rugby is a lot cheaper, but again it is not necessarily something you can run on the cheap. Perhaps I'm a pessimist, but my feeling is that Lansdown doesn't want to spend a lot of money for success, and that although he is happy to fund the clubs his first point of order will be to cut costs where possible.

When it comes to being a businessman he most certainly isn't.

When it comes to running a football club and making good decisions, I am far from convinced, and for me the jury is very much still out

There are rules similar to FFP in place for Premiership Rugby clubs, are there not?

But at the present time, no wages cap for Rugby Championship clubs. So in theory SL can spend what he wants to on wages to attain promotion but once in the Rugby Premiership, the wages cap then applies.
