I have a lot of sympathy for this view. Having seen the lack of commitment/ability from most of our expensive signings this season, I'm forced to reappraise Barton. Or perhaps time is a great healer. Or perhaps I'm desperate to get back to the Premier League at any price....

Even I will confess there is a new dawn each day so anything and everything is possible ...

In the year of our Lord 2009/10 Barton helped Newcastle back to the Premiership with 102 points ... with 10 games to spare over Blackpool who went up as play off winners. Newcastle won promotion on April 5th! 2010

Some of the players from that team: Fitz Hall and Routledge from us! ... Fabricio Coloccini, Steve Harper, José Enrique, Jonás Gutiérrez, Andy Carroll, Ryan Taylor, Alan Smith, Kevin Nolan, and Joey Barton who played only 8 games six at the start of the campaign ... broke his foot however they didn't let many goals in ... I can't go on the man is an idiot

I'm torn on this one but have to admit he's better than Mbia. If he does come back I think we need to wipe the slate clean and get behind him and whatever lads make up our team next season.

If it was solely on the basis of playing ability, then Yes. On the basis of respect for the club and fellow players & fans, definitely NO!

He will have to demonstrate some severe atonement with the club, starting with donating his fat salary to QPR Community causes before I would even consider him worthy of returning.

We are bottom of the league, no matter what he may have done, we couldn't possibly have been any worse off with him in the team.

Unbelievable revisionism by some people on here. Does relegation cause mass amnesia? Barton has no interest in playing for our club, he has made that clear. His behaviour is both appalling and unpredictable, a recipe for trouble.

If he comes back I guarantee those of you who were baying for his blood last summer and are now thinking 'well, he couldn't be worse than...' will be baying for his blood again within 3 months.

You are probably right, I just long for anyone of our players to even appear to care enough to get angry on the pitch. Aside from Mackie, Hill & Derry, the rest just do not seem to give a toss.

It's a matter of principles, either you have them or you don't. TF have the cash, and is able to pay for his mistake(s).

Joey has made it clear he is not interested in cleaning up a mess he hasn't been directly part of. It would be the start of the end for our great club if he was to return in any other capacity than a shoe cleaner.

@Joey7Barton: I'll just re-iterate for a lot of the buffoons tweeting me. I WILL NOT BE PLAYING IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP NEXT SEASON. Hope that clears that up!

@Joey7Barton: My standard is Premier League minimum. I've proven that over 10 years. This year I've proven I deserve a crack at Champs League.

@Joey7Barton: If I'd of been part of a relegated team. I would without a shadow of a doubt, stayed and helped them try to get out. (I did at Newcastle).

@Joey7Barton: I wasn't part of it. I wanted to be in July. MH and co, said they didn't want or need me. That was there choice. Not mine. I went to France.

@Joey7Barton: Got my head down and tried to rebuild my career. I have made a decent start. I have unfinished business here and hope to stay for life.

@Joey7Barton: This is a club that loves me (baggage and all) and I love it. As people know, the heart wants, what the heart wants. No matter where I am...

@Joey7Barton: ...at the start of next season, my heart will be in Marseille. Counting the days till I get to go to war for this club again. #allezLOM

Good. Let's see if Marseilles will massage his ego by paying us for him. Personally this is one I'd give away.

As long as we don't have to pick up a share of his wages.

TF has already said we wont be doing that. He will have to take a wage cut and it sounds like he is going to.

He played well on many occasions and ****e on some. But he would be good in the Championship. Yet I still wouldn't take the chance on him and I don't forgive him for what happened at Man City. I said at that time that I never want to see him in hoops again.

10th April Fernandes tweeted: “For the record QPR players under contract cannot decide where they play.”

So unless he takes a pay cut and we are happy to get his wages off our books then fine. May also decide we want a fee for him as well.

Otherwise he’s staying and back to my first comment. In no way can we subsidise a players wages to allow him to leave.

Exactly. I said at the time we bought him it was like taking a rabid dog into the house to deter burglars...

    Part of a post on watrb by Deepcuthoop, which I think is excellent;

'.....he obviously dislikes the club and fans, and has made it clear he won't be playing for us next year, as despite us paying his wages, he doesn't think our league position is something that should be inflicted on him.
And still there are some with 'battered wife syndrome' on here that still think he'll change, and that it's our fault he doesn't like us, and he needs just one more chance and he'll show us how much he loves us......'
