....and would you want him? @Joey7Barton:No matter what happens next year. I have enjoyed this experience. Nobody can ever take that away from me. Looking forward to the future.... @Joey7Barton: What will be will be. Physically, emotionally and mentally, I'm in a fantastic place. I feel ready to face anything life throws at me. @Joey7Barton: Bring it on...
No. Whist we've witnessed some ****e this season, it's easy to forget the issues with Barton. Apart from his twitter antics and being a first class knobhead, he got the most stick from QPR fans (Pre-Man City game) for his woeful footballing ability. Remember how we reacted to his substitution against Liverpool?
We must judge this purely on an economic basis. I’m sure a few sensitive soles might get high and mighty and be anti-Barton based on about their own superior moral’s but there’s no room for that considering the financial implications of relegation. Marseille clearly cant meet his wages and want us to meet part of his wages instead. We can’t do that because it will set a precedent and moving on likes of Bosinwa, Granero, Cesar and Toilet would become even more difficult as buying clubs would hold out for the same. Therefore if we cant shift him off the wage book I would be more than happy to keep him. I’d have him over Mbia, Granero, Park any day and he’s a better player than the ageing Derry. I do remember how terrible he was for a large chunk of our season and regularly berated him for it at the ground but before and since then he has shown that he does have more than enough ability for the championship. Also done it before with Newcastle. I’d rather have a character like him who actually tries while on the pitch then a bunch of useless ****ers who don’t try on the pitch but have never been in trouble off the pitch. Head overheart and it’s a no brainer
On that basis, the answer is still no. He's on far, far too much money for the Championship. Someone from the Premiership will take a punt on him if he goes on a free - West Ham, Stoke, Hull, Watford/Palarse.
If thats the case then great but i'm not convinced they will. I would say unrealistic to think that any of those clubs mentioned will be willing to match Bartons current wages so back to that same problem of clubs wanting us to part fund or give him a lump sum pay off. Back to square one really
I'm only a member, not a ST holder so this is easy for me to say but I will never pay money to see that **** bag play!
Guys & Gals, we booed him off, he vowed to face that, and actually came back after that and played a few good games. The key thing is the red mist issue. If he does come back, likely a red within first 5 games sadly.
Harry has gone on about the squad and said that we lack players with character, well Mr Barton has plenty of it. Love him or hate him he would have done the job of digging people out for not putting a shift in when we needed it, remember last season he was on at Adel quite a bit for not tracking back and rightly so, now this season he was doing it like it was second nature to him, ok not quite but his work rate for the games leading up to that penalty was fantastic. Do you think Joey would have stayed quite for Boswinga? It may have got him to put a shift in or if not that then slate him in a tweet which would then started to create a bit of rappor with the fans which has been lacking all season. I think he will be back next season and he will be one of the players that will be Harryâs characters and get the ball rolling back to the Premiership.
I'm so fed after seeing such a lack of fight this year, mainly lazy arsed players taking the money. I can't stand the man but I do want someone who has fighting spirit and get some passion back in the dressing room
The problem with Barton is that his "fighting spirit" tends to go a little too far. Referees are constantly looking at his "fighting spirit" and after his "previous" he will never get a fair crack. 50/50s , even 60/40s will always go against him. The "fighting spirit" showed itself when he was having a go at all and sundry on the pitch - especially Adel - when things weren't going well. No trying to encourage people to work harder or try harder, just bawling at them when they got something wrong (in his eyes). Reports were that it was exactly the same on the training ground. We cannot afford to have a divided dressing room next year. Barton is NOT the man to bring harmony, rather the opposite. Harry wants characters. You don't have to be an egotistical bully and wind up merchant to be a character. That's a no from me.
Darn Tooting! Get him back, he'll put the sh*ts up all the overpaid pre-madonnas and make them work harder for fear of getting hit with a golf club. Bring him back I say, not like we've got much of a reputation left to tarnish
