Evening all..

An idea that has been floated about lately is the thought of setting up an Ipswich Town Not606 twitter account to try and increase the level of traffic that frequent this site (Town fans naturally) thus potentially increasing posters and interaction on this site, and this in itself poses a few questions..

What should it be called?

Who should be in charge of such perilous responsibility?

Is it needed?

What is twitter?

Is there pictures of naked ladies?

Are all questions that have probably followed the suggestion of utilising the twitter generation to lure in unsuspecting victims to this board.

So..

Any suggestions, ideas, musings then feel free to air them here and we will set the wheels in motion to get the Ipswich town Not606 band on tour across the whole of the internet <ok>

ITFC606?

The irony being that this is NOT 606.

Is it needed? It would be able to target town fans on twitter and make them aware this exists and perhaps they will read about a thread they want to join in with.

Naked ladies, no not really.

Who? I can set it up and do a background / icon etc but I don't have time to be solely responsible for tweeting but could co-tweet.

Although I have a twitter account I'm 100% sure of how to use it but I do think it would be a great idea to attract new members to our forum, if we can somehow have a direct link from twitter to here.

Surely it should just be called Ipswich Town FC not606 or ITFCnot606?

Is it possible for everytime a new thread is started that it just automatically tweets it on twitter, so someone doesn't necessarily have to manage it? With perhaps just the odd tweet advertising to new members?

Yeah, we've got this set up on the F1 board. A user called BrightLampShade did it, I believe through something like TweetDeck. I think it was SD raised the issue of it lacking a personal touch though. Perhaps as filler (when people can't be bothered to use the account) it could be helpful though.

There is a way to automate tweets, but as I said when DH suggested it, it's a terrible idea, people just don't respond well at all to automation (they have over 800 tweets and just 19 followers).

Limits:
Username can contain up to 15 characters (e.g. @ITFCnot606 = 10)
Name can be 20 characters long. (e.g. Ipswich Town not606 = 19)

KoPR, could you hang on a bit before following peeps. I tend to only look at someone's profile when they first add me <ok>

Not a problem, I realised mid process that I'd jumped in a bit gung-ho.. It asked me to follow people before I could continue setting it up and there was no 'skip' function until the bit when it asked for people I already know... which was lucky as I would be clutching at straws at that point

If anyone wants to fashion together a fancy profile and any bells and whistles to go with it then feel free as it's looking a bit of a sorry state right now <ok>

I see you have it all set up KoPR <ok> Once you have a little play with it you will get it the way you like. I just kept ours simple. Badge in the corner and had it red. Don't forget to ask for a RT from your players etc. Will boost your followers up a great amount <ok>

Cheers for the PM Shiny... Very useful to see what has worked for other boards <cheers>

I was thinking about using your advice to write up a 'development plan' for our twitter usage :emoticon-0148-yes: :emoticon-0126-nerd:
