Bit early for a match thread but what team do people want MP to play. I'm keen for us to go out in style but can also see the logic of giving a few of the fringe layers a chance to impress and stake a claim to be still part of things next season.

For that reason I think I think I'd start with.

Boruc

Clyne Maya Jos Shaw

Punch JWP Morgan

Mayuka Jrod Rickie

Subs Kelvin, Forren, Jose, Cork, Davis, Guly, Seager

What do we all think?

I have always thought that playing with 3 centre backs and pushing your full backs high up the pitch is the best way to play against a big direct team like Stoke. It gives you the extra height and defenders at set pieces, whilst Clyne and Shaw can cut the supply line down dramatically by forcing them to go the other way. You need to have physical presence in midfield and I think rather than trying to compete in the air with there centre backs, trying to play through them with pace is the way to go.

Boruc
Clyne Yoshida Hooiveld Forren Shaw
Schneiderlin Cork Ward-Prowse
Rodriguez Lambert (or maybe Mayuka)

I wonder if Billy Sharp can play???

No Billy Sharp cannot play, he is not in the senior 25.

Just to clarify the Sharp situation

"For the 2012/13 season each club had a deadline of 4th September to submit a squad containing no more than 17 players who do not fulfil the "Home Grown Player" (HGP) criteria.

The remainder of the squad, up to a total of 25 players, must be Home Grown. An HGP means a player who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21).

Changes to the squad list of 25 may be made during the period of a transfer window.

U21 players are eligible over and above the limit of 25 players/squad.
For the 2012/13 campaign Under 21 players will have been born on or after 1st January 1991.

Yes, why not try a different formation. Could this be MP's plan B for teams that do not play football? I'd swap JWP for lallana to give us a bit more of an attacking threat. Would like to see mayuka get some game time, I don't want to see him become a 'jono forte for the PL'.

I think Lloyd Isgrove may be in with a shout ... was part of the travelling party yesterday and was in the pre-match warmup

Mayuka does a great job of getting in not606-ers' teamsheets, even if he never gets on the pitch much in real life. He's in loads every week.

Bench: Boruc, Yoshida, Stephens, Isgrove, Seager, Targett, Forte.

It's been a hard 1st season for most. Rest our key players.

We need to finish as high up the league as possible as each position is worth nearly £1M. Depending on results we can finish anywhere between 10th and 17th. That could buy us the next J rod.

So lets play our best team and then they can all have a rest come Monday morning.

i would go with the same team that started on Sunday but with Puncheon coming in for Lallana.

Need to win to attract players in the summer! Would very much expect full strength. Deserve a rest?! Players know the length of the season, and get paid to finish off the job! We don't get discounted tickets if they put out reserve teams!!

There's no way MP will play three at the back, I don't expect to see it any time soon as it hasn't really been used to good effect in the top flight; it's clear to see how Wigan have done playing three at the back (of course not suggesting this is why they're in trouble) and it hasn't worked very well for Man City when they've tried it. However, Watford seem to be implementing it quite well in the Championship, so maybe there is a future in playing three at the back in England.
For me, Lambert in particular looks particularly jaded, and Lallana is not playing as he had been before he got injured, so I would perhaps leave them out and go for something a little like this:
Boruc
Clyne Fonte Forren Shaw
Cork Schneiderlin
Puncheon JWP Davis
Rodriguez

With maybe someone like Isgrove, Seager or Chambers on the bench.

------------Boruc
-Clyne--Fonte-Hoovield-Shaw
--------Cork--Morgan----------
-Puncheon-Davis-Rodriguez
-----------Lambert(c)

This is our best team atm, as others have stated it's important that we finish as high as possible. We must finish above west ham for me to collect some money. I can see us winning 1-0, with mayuka scoring off the bench.

Boruc
Clyne - Fonte - Forren - Shaw
Morgan - Cork
Puncheon - S.Davis - Rodriguez
Lambert

Subs: K.Davis, Yoshida, Targett, JWP, Lallana, Seager, Mayuka

Wouldn't mind seeing a few academy lads on the subs bench.

Yes maybe that's the answer. Have a couple of the kids on the bench and if we are winning comfortably bring them on gfr the last 20 mins or so.
