I agree we can't afford another Sven. But we also can't afford another decade outside the big time.
Frankly AKCJ, I'm just glad it's not me that's got to make the decision! Sack Pearson and finish mid-table, then it's a disaster. Stick with him and miss out on promotion again, then Fallen, FF and the many others that think like they do will probably cancel their season tickets!
I don't think we can literally afford to stay outside the Prem another decade - this next season is massive. We could end up with a transfer embargo in 2015 if we're not promoted...
Times like this where I wish (this will sound really ****ing arrogant, but it's the truth) that we weren't as big of a club as we are.
The expectations are such a hindrance to any potential success IMO. Our fans won't allow a season or two to rebuild i midtable even though that is probably the best thing we can do.
We're not a million miles off. We do have a very talented and young squad. But it's miles too thin. We need the summer to improve and bulk our squad.
Don't think we'd end up with embargo's. Our squad is, IMO, very valuable because of age and potential.
tbf for a FOURTH CHOICE cb we have to be realistic - whitbread is experienced and more than good enough for 4th choice and SSL is more than capable of being 3rd choice and maybe even starting. With defenders as long as their not error prone and are to a certain ability its more how they are prepared than the manager as a unit than individual talent.
Dyer is a fine winger and the exact type of personality we want, cant see any reason why we wouldnt keep him. Waggy id love to loan out and keep but im unsure.

I'm beginning to not so much worry about promotion as not doing a Portsmouth.
We can't lose more than £8m next season. We lost £30m last season (or the season before as I suppose we should start calling it). I know that was Sven going mental but it's a big difference.
Pearson can assemble a good team on a budget. Very soon that is going to be a much sort-after commodity in this league. I'd rather do as Cardiff did than go for broke (although in fairness they've spend well over the years too). We tried that and it didn't work.
I agree with your assessment of the squad and that's why it's important to get rid of the remnants of Sven's era (except maybe Nugent and Kasper, and even then it depends what they're on). Then we can make some more astute signings and push on next year. First things first though - we need to know and know soon who will be sorting out the squad. We don't want to miss out on possible signings/sales because we don't know what's happening. Hopefully we'll hear something either way over the next few days.
I dread to think what St Ledger's on. He's not good enough to be paid more than most of the first team. I think Konch will also be looked at. Whitbread as fourth choice, sure but we need a second and third.
Lloyd Dyer is 30 now and great as a squad player. But I'd prefer we had someone keeping him out of the first team. Waggy - I just don't feel comfortable with him coming on to change games. Obviously Nige doesn't either that's why he brought Kane in. He has one year on his contract (we think?) so if we can't sell he may be out on loan most of the season to see out his contract. Gallagher, Danns, Beckford, Wellens, Vardy and Futacs can all go for me. Marshall is a Pearson signing so probably isn't paid a fortune (and is a damn good player when he wants to be) so he can stay!
Pearson... has been given free reign since he came back.. and all we get is another hard luck story.. a lot of HIS players have been frozen out and a lot of HIS players have flopped... I never go for the "hang on to nurse for the fear of something worse" thinking... I know my own mind.. I know what my thoughts on mr, pearson are.. he is a loser.. sorry... the owners need to big up.. and be brave..

Depends what you mean by "free reign". I don't think he's been allow to spend like Sven was. We've had to prepare for FFP next season for starters and I think our owners have realised that throwing money at promotion campaigns doesn't guarantee success.
Which of his players have been frozen out and flopped? Vardy was always a gamble coming from non-league like that. Futacs and Whitbread were always intended as back up. Nearly all the others have been regulars.
I'm all for having the balls to twist if things aren't going well. Truth is though, we could be in a Hell of lot worse position going into next season. I wouldn't go as far as saying: "if it's not broken...", but I will say it won't take a whole lot of nursie's medicine to remedy the situation.
Don't think you will go broke - unless you sack Nigel and replace him with Harry (who seems to have a track record of leaving clubs in a financial mess!)

i dont think u lads need too much rebuilding tbf, dont get any of your key players poached add in some quaility fbs (espcially at lb) get that keane back, add in a cm, maybe replace dyer and get nugent firing more consistant and your fine. all you really need is better depth your starting 11 on its day is up there with best in the championship, but your depth is ****ing awful.
I wouldn't worry about it, Matie, you're not as big a club as you think you are.
Can't compare Nugent with Vydra I'm afraid - Vydra's movement, technique and intelligence are top drawer - I suspect we will be seeing him playing in European competition(s) for many years to come.
I have never stopped going to support Leicester because I don't particularly like the manager (indeed 'like' is the wrong term, let's try 'rate')- nor will I (although Gary Megson did make me pause for thought at one stage - Southend away to be precise, when we got altitude sickness if the ball looked like going in their half) - but, and as I've said consistently, some managers are better than others - I've never been convinced by Nigel Pearson - that hasn't changed - but so what?
