Results haven't been going in our favour for weeks now. We lost to Fulham(that's the one that has cost us dearly) and all our rivals have beaten them. UTD beat Chelsea, Villa Swansea and the list is long with clubs who haven't helped! At least our season goes to the last day-Some teams are already on the beach.
If the rumours are true and Mancini is off at the end of the season, Pellegrini is the perfect replacement - he's got plenty of experience spending Arabic money to get a bog standard team into the Champions League already...
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew says he would not care if Arsenal beat his side 4-0 next week after the Magpies ensured their Premier League status with a 2-1 win at QPR on Sunday. A penalty from Hatem Ben Arfa and a fortuitous strike from Yoann Gouffran saw the Magpies leave Loftus Road with a vital three points that ensured they could no longer be relegated. NEWCASTLE LATEST 28/1 Arsenal are 28/1 with bet365 to beat Newcastle 4-0 Champions League-chasing Arsenal will need a victory next Sunday to be sure of a top-four place, while Tottenham will be hoping the Gunners to slip up, but Pardew insists his priority is for Newcastle fans to “enjoy themselves” on the last day of the season. “We got an important result today,” he told reporters. “I don’t really care if Arsenal win 4-0 if I’m honest – I’m sure Spurs will – but I only care that our fans enjoy themselves. “I’m very pleased. It was a very important game for this football club. Particularly this year with the finance of the Premier League. “I thought both penalties were dubious. We played well after that, showed great resilience and it is massive for the North-East to have a team in the Premier League. The Newcastle boss went on to echo his earlier dismissals of a "rift" existing within the squad and says his side will be better prepared for next year’s league campaign. “Accusations of a 'rift' are absolutely ridiculous. Those that made them will be sobbing in their beer today,” Pardew continued. “I think if I put my best XI out every week we would be a top-eight side but I’ve only been able to put it out three times at most. It’s an unforgiving league and if you look at this division, the likes of Swansea and West Brom are only five or six points ahead of us. “It’s been an unbelievable season and I think it’s been so, so tight because of the financial rewards at stake this year. I will make sure that we are well prepared for next season and thank God we are not in the Europa League again.” 1st the comments about SAF now this
"I don't really care if Arsenal win 4-0 if I'm honest" Thanks Pardew for your efforts to maintain the integrity of the PL on the last day of the season. Your comments today confirm what we already knew.... You are a first class twat.
What I really struggle to understand is how Ashley, who has always been fairly shrewd, could hand a useless twat like Pardew a 6 year contract. Not that I really care, because I think Ashley is a twat, too.
Newcastle have six points and one goal better difference than Wigan, if Wigan win their last two games and Newcastle lose threir last game Wigan go above Newcastle so they are far from safe yet
If Wigan win their game, mate, then it's back in our hands. Wigan & Villa can sort themselves out. We just need Wigan to get something out of their game against The Goons.
He could have kept that to himself, lol. Not like anyone would have a reason to doubt the commitment of a team that loses 4-0 to Arsenal, happens all the time. Not like we're trying to get a CL spot with a goal difference lower than the Scouse.
Know that mate - I was just correcting the previous poster about the Toons. As you say, we're all Wigan fans on Tuesday!!!
It's got to be tough - two vital games in 48 hours! Talk about the luck of The Goons!. Just have to hope that their win has given them the inspiration & belief to go out there and get something.
At least he's honest unlike that bottler Fergie and his legions of hypocritical fans who would whine non stop if it happened to them
Just seen a couple of incidents on MOTD2 that were dubious decisions which will probably have little effect on the end of season placings - but that's just two out of how many that have had an effect? First there's a penalty against QPR for shirt pulling in the box. Yes it's a penalty by the rules, but then again so are several in every single match. It may well be said that if these were given then people will stop doing it, but since that doesn't happen (and isn't going to) any penalty that is given for it is yet another example of inconsistency - and an example of how refs change the league significantly. Another is a penalty against Pool that wasn't given where an arm was clearly hit. Again sometimes they're given and sometimes they aren't. But think about it, in an industry with so many millions hinging on every decision whether you get a penalty seems quite random! Is that satisfactory? It's also said (again and again, yawn) that things even themselves out. But they don't, there's no evidence of that. Indeed, what we do see is where there's a decision to be made that could go either way, that decision goes in favour of certain teams. That is the real bias here - in the subtle decisions that may not even be analysed after the game - like whether an early yellow is given. Well I'm fed up with it, and it's not just that these things never seem to go in favour of Spurs. I want consistency, whatever the cost. I want the result to be determined by the balance of play, not the whim of a ref.
Simple. Arsenal are lucky enough to be playing a team who are being forced to play two very important games in 48 hours. As much as Wigan are almost certainly buoyed by their victory, they are hardly liable to be at their best having had virtually no time to rest or recuperate.
To be fair though NSIS, it's no different to a team in the CL who have to play on a Saturday in the PL and then a group game on a tues. happens all the time.
Yeah, possibly. However, most teams in the CL have a larger squad of quality players than a side like Wigan. That allows the manager more flexibility in his team selections. Even so, it is unusual for even a CL team to have to play two such vital games in 48 hours. Sat-Tues is 72 hours.
