Did we have to release Chris Martin on a free transfer? Would have been better if we could have got a transfer fee for him. Hopefully, we will get some decent money in for the others players who leave in the summer.

As much as I loathe the negativity on this board at the moment, this is my type of thread.

I want the following players:

Shaun Maloney
Marcus Berg
Anthony Annan
Jobi McAnuff
Eliaquim Mangala
and a left back who I am yet to think of.

Just throwing another name out there who looked good in the playoffs..that French kid from Leicester...Knockaert?!

I must admit, I'm not convinced I'd like either McAnuff or Berg unless they were really cheap. Mangala would be incredible, but I'm afraid I think he is way out of our league:

Yeah Mangala was a hopeful one <laugh>

I see McAnuff as a squad/option player more than a first-teamer, but think Berg could be huge given the chance he's been denied at Hamburg recently. Doubt he'd be cheap, but McAnuff could be.

Anyone else feel we might not actually need to sign a CB? Ryan Bennett was outstanding today, and Russell Martin can fill in there too. Maybe sign another full back (ideally someone who can play both sides), and surely that'd be enough defensively?

Smash the bank for Naughton. Got a feeling he will be on the move this summer!

I'm not so sure. Esoitt-Ekotto (or however it's spelt) hasn't been great for Spurs of late, and Naughton is effectively their 3rd choice full-back.

Could see Benno and Bassong making a nice partnership next season. He has a lot to learn but the are both quite good with the ball at their feet as well as decent in the air. Lots of potential there, and with Turner that is 3 good CBs. The question is do we have enough cover for a 4th CB? Quite possibly. There are certainly higher priorities

I'd want a fourth CB that isn't Barney, who I'm pretty certain will leave, Bassong, Turner, Bennett and another maybe Davis would be good for me.

then Russ, Whits, Javi and Naughton would make up an excellent set of full backs

My calls for Naughton and Davies were because of me thinking that Barnett, Ward, Tierney maybe Garrido would all leave. Therefore needing cover.

I also like Right-Back Tripper from Burnley, and while on Burnley, is Austin worth a mention?

Austin would cost too much F_M_L.

As for Left back, we seem to be linked with Martin Olssen quite a bit which is why i put him in my list. RB we will be fine with rusty and whitts.

I think our shopping list will consist of...

1x CB
1x LB
1x CDM
1x ATM
1x Winger
1x Striker

and if the figures are to be believed we should have a lot of money to spend on these positions, with the 2 central midfield positions at the top of the list!

Summer Transfer Kitty + January Transfer Kitty + Money no longer allocated to paying off debt + Increase in TV Money

£10m + £8.5m + £12m + £20m = £50.5m realistically available

Before any of you announce that this is a ridiculously high figure, remember that for many clubs, majority of their TV revenue goes on wages, which for our club is LOW by PL standards...hence the rather large warchest

just as a side note, are we all assuming Ayala is going? Seems to have done OK at Florist, might be a reasonable CB.

Goldeneye, while I don't have the figures at hand I dispute your calculatio, exclusively on the premise that no team outside the big 4 spends that much ever. Especially with FFP, seems unlikely that we could.
