Never been a big Wigan fan, but you have to credit them for today. Magical stuff to deny City any consolation for this season. <ok> Delighted for them.

So let's say City get rid of Mancini and bring in Pellegrini, no way will he find his first season easy.

Potentially Jose causing havoc at Chelsea. Arsenal remain ****.
Could all play into our hands.

Our most dangerous rival would be Chelsea if Benitez remained in charge.

Likewise. And they play decent football at times as well, considering their budget. They gave City a proper lesson yesterday - it wasn't some fluky play for penalties and nick a goal win but a great cup final performance.

No. I think they've shot their load now, and Arsenal will be desperate for the points after Chelsea's win - they can't afford to drop a single point now.

Unless Mubarak opens the chequebook again. Tbh I think City are in a real tight spot now - they need to keep cutting the losses in case FFP proves to have teeth, but they also obviously need to strengthen, particularly if they get a new manager in.

Not sure I agree on Benitez tho' - if he gets a long term contract the hate from Chelsea fans will just come back again, and the results will go down the drain as a result. Mourinho at Chelsea, or even City tho' that's unlikely, would be the biggest challenge. At least for the first two seasons before the chaos inevitably starts anyway.

There's no doubt that Mourinho is one of the great managers but he's hardly pulled up trees at Real given the resources and players available to him. Barca are still the dominant force in Spanish football.

Apparently the City owner hasn't been to a single match this season. Maybe he's lost interest in his new toy. He certainly didn't give Mancini the unlimited backing he demanded last summer and it's become apparent that he can't succeed without it.

He's hardly ever been there since the day he bought it. However, he didn't buy it because of a love of football, nor is it a toy for him.

It's a marketing billboard for his oil state, due to their need to 're-invent' their country as the 'new Dubai' before the wells run dry...that was what they bought it for, nothing more, nothing less.

So a bunch of mercenaries strolling around Wembley and losing the FA Cup final to Wigan probably wasn't part of his marketing masterplan?

I agree Mourinho might do ok for a season or two but there seems to be this feeling from Chelsea fans he is nailed on, guaranteed to bring them instant success.

Name me a manager who went back to a club and replicated their prior success.

    Dalglish?
    Howard Kendall?
    Steve Coppell?
    Matt Busby?

    Nah, none of em.

    Why will Mourinho?

I'd be very surprised if mourinho didn't do well going back to Chelsea. All they need are two good strikers.

I can see them winning it next season especially if city sack Mancini. Hopefully we will be up there. But don't expect moyes to win in his first season.

I'd suggest they need a centre half too.

I'm just pointing out that with egos like Mourinho and Abramovic, the fact that one sacked the other and the still huge influence of one year older players like Terry and Lampard about the place it might not be the super smooth return of the guarantor of success maestro they all assume it to be.

With us, them and probably City all having new managers it'll be an open title race.

no one knows, Moyes can win the title .. he will be dying to do so and team need to prove themselves to new manager .. i think we have bigger chances to win it actually than if sir Alex stayed as we tend to get complacent after being champions
and the 2 ST chelsea need will not come cheaply , with FFP around doubt they can have 2 great ST, one at best if they can afford him

Transfer fees aren't the problem, it's the wages.

With Malouda/Benayoun leaving it will free up some space.

  20. Not often I agree with Sisu but that was a silly comment! Didn't you guys win it three years on the trot at one point? You have also won it twice in a row a few times too <doh>
