I was thinking along the same lines as Luke. I'm hoping that this has given Wigan a real confidence boost, and that they will be thinking "if we can beat City, we can beat Arsenal"

I hope you're wrong Chirpy. They simply cannot afford to lose against The Goons. Depending on the outcome of the QPR vs Newcastle game today, they may need to win!. Either way, they will hopefully be up for the fight. Mind you, it will all mean nothing if we **** up against Stoke today!.

I do too. This win could be just what they need to push the club forward, to actually make the town appreciate football instead of fat blokes running in to each other. To be relegated would undo all that good. Game faces today for Stoke.

Leicester miss a penalty to win the semi-final play-off, Watford go down the other end and score. Painful.

    Watford v Leicester- bonkers!

2-2 on agg when Leicester miss 97th minute (dubious) pen to win and Watford go down the other end and score.

Trying to work out what the best results are for us today and game 38?

We need Sunderland to be as safe as possible when we play them, to make it easier, but for Wigan to be fighting against arsenal and Newcastle doing the same on the last day.

Can anyone work it all out? I'm confusing myself.

  8. You've just summed up what it's been like to be a Yid!

Jesus! How tense is the last game of the season going to be this year! I've already booked a session with my Chelsea mate to watch the last day of the season, and I think the only way that I'll be able to properly cope with it is to make sure that I am tanked up on booze.

We probably want Norwich and Newcastle to lose and Sunderland to win.

Sunderland will be all but safe (they might even be safe) with a win.

I think that we certainly don't want Sunderland to lose. Apart from that, it's all down to Tuesday. Wigan simply cannot afford to lose. If they do, then it will almost certainly be them down. If they can even get a draw, we then must beat Sunderland & what happens between The Goons and Newcastle won't matter.

It's simple. We need Sunderland to win and Newcastle not to. That way Arsenal have two battles.

  15. QPR have been utterly useless all season, that's the problem for us, though.

  16. YES!!!

The Toon get a red card!

  17. Not a great set of results for us...... Newcastle safe so an easy win for Arse next weekend.
But if Wigan don't get anything midweek then it is out of hands anyway......

  18. Damn! The Toon won.

That means that if Wigan don't beat Arsenal on Tuesday, the Toon are safe, and there won't be any incentive on them winning against Arsenal on the last day of the season.

    Not good.

It's all about wigan now. Shame about newcstle not needing more on the final day, but it was never going to go completely in our favour. Wigan have enough to make arsenal drop points if they play like they did yesterday.

Who knows, a relaxed Newcastle team on the final day with players looking to get out of the club, might actually work in our favour!

it's certainly going to go to the wire.
