No way could a goal be given although I think it probably did just cross the line - but that's from the way the ball was spinning and the delay before the clearance came in rather than any visual evidence. There were a number of decisions that could have gone either way - but as Benteke might have gone earlier, so Terry was lucky to remain as long as he did. Although he might now be wishing otherwise....
Lol. You lot must be sick at the sight of us On a friendlier note, I hope Arse slip up and let you sneak it. On paper you have the easier run in, so good luck
I agree. I thought there were a lot of tough calls to make and it had an impact on both sides. I'm just trying to refute this myth that the referee was "Out to get Villa to conspire against Spurs". I thought both sides were on the end of some debatable calls. Not sure Beluga. If Arsenal beat Wigan it's probably game over seeing as as Newcastle will have nothing to play for. A Wigan win would really throw a spanner in the works for everyone, and guarantee us 3rd.
The ball hit his hand. That happened to at least 3 Chelsea players. None of them were penalties. The replays showed that it might have crossed the line, after viewing it from a number of angles and slowing it down. Even then they weren't sure. It would've been the wrong decision to award the goal, not that it's stopped them being awarded in your favour in the past.
Just to be clear, I'm not suggesting that it was the ref's fault that Villa lost. Lambert should shoulder the blame for this result, as he appeared to forget that he was the manager in the second half. Stood there looking worried and didn't make any substitutions, despite it being pretty clear that he needed to do so. It'll be down to him if Wigan relegate them, as unlikely as that looks.
I think that we might have to rely on Arsenal being pegged back by the French. That's assuming that we manage to take care of our own business, as we head back to the scene of Foy's masterclass, which was where we got our last penalty in the league.
Like Bobby Robson was, Dave Whelan is what football used to be all about; Character, integrity and honesty. I hope Wigan give him a win today.
you seem confident that Newcastle will beat QPR, I think QPR just might make it interesting come the final day
Assuming that they get what they need from QPR, they might have a few players going into the final game looking to make a point. I get the feeling that some of them would like to be playing some sort of European football, at least. They may not deserve it, but that doesn't seem to stop players nowdays. Ben Arfa, Tiote, Cabaye and the injured Krul seem like likely candidates for a sharp exit and Coloccini wants to go home, apparently. Some of them will want to make sure that they're in a position to push for a place in their national team's World Cup squad in the summer.
Changing subject slightly Wigan bossing City in the opening stages. I thought City would win at a canter but it could be interesting.
Gilly Ballache is claiming that Mankini is due to be replaced by Malaga's Pellegrini at the end of the season, no matter what he does today. Sounds about right, to be honest.
First cup Final i can ever remeber where literally everyone other than City fans wats the other team to win
