The atmosphere last night

Now I don't know if anyone else went to the game last night (Chelsea or Spurs fans), but I thought that the atmosphere was blinding last night. It was how a proper London derby should be. Full throttle game, both sets of fans were brilliant, I hardly saw any tourists there last night and I didn't see one half half scarf... It's how it should be at the Bridge for every game imo. There wasn't a moment when one set of fans wasn't chanting.

Good banter with the Spurs fans but also some hatred in there as well. We sit right next to the away end so it got quite heated but it's Chelsea v Tottenham. They are our biggest rivals and there are loads of Spurs fans who hate us more than Arsenal. Police were out in force and bar a couple of scruffles between the two sets of fans it was all good. There is no way you would have got an atmosphere like that at the Emirates. Is Chelsea v Tottenham becoming the main London derby?

It was a game full of passion... tackles flying in... Brilliant skill... Some brilliant goals... And a great advert for the Premier League... I don't enjoy going to the Bridge as I have done in the past but even though we only got a point, last night was right up there.
 
What the Bridge needs is a new Mick Greenaway! Never a dull moment when he was in the Shed!

Good to read your thoughts as a fan at the game <ok>

I expected an entertaining match and it definitely lived up to that, I was hoping in honor of Fergie Time retiring that they'd add on an extra 10 minutes or so to continue enjoying it.

No I thought 4 minutes was perfect ;)

Do you consider Chelsea v Spurs a bigger match over Arse v Spurs? I know many Spurs fans who hate us a lot more than Arsenal now...

Great to hear Bucks.

There is a strong rivalry with Spurs. They are definitely the team most Chelsea fans hate most along with Leeds but in terms of importance it isn't up there with the Arsenal or Man U games for me, not yet anyway, may well change if Spurs start doing better.

I agree in that it was a great advert for the PL. Both sets of fans got fully behind their team. High intensity throughout. A shame Spurs didn't have a fully fit squad and a shame we had a tired one.

Nah, can't stand either of you but I think the best way to measure it is how you react to results against them. The loss at the Emirates definitely hurt more than losing to you at WHL and I wouldn't have swapped beating them for beating you guys, they never shut up about beating us 5-2 twice at the Emirates let alone if they did the double over us too!

They all seem to be good matches though and even Arsenal can turn on the noise for a derby game, I think they're all to be looked forward to and I couldn't wait for the game yesterday.

I've been a Spurs fan for over 50 years. I didn't know much of the history when I was a lad and the only other team in London that won anything much in the 60s was West Ham although Chelsea were clearly the second best team in the capital in the late sixties. Saw an amazing game at the Bridge, in 1970 I think, that Spurs won 2-0 in the pouring rain. I didn't rate Arsenal as any sort of challenger then but they went and won the double in 1971 and were the best team in London between then and when Abramovich started at Chelsea. I still have not really got used to the fact the Chelsea are in the ascendancy and the history with Arsenal will always make that the biggest grudge match. The atmosphere last night was great though.

Unlike the goons at their place, you lot actually sing and make a noise. They have one section that makes a noise but the rest are very quiet.

Good game overall but in fairness Chelsea should of been 3/4-1 up before we leveled late on.

And the most pleasing aspect was that there was very little trouble between the fans.

Fair play Junction.

I would agree but your fighting spirit merited a point. Could be decisive given your GD is inferior to Arsenal's. now means you only need Arsenal to draw one instead of lose. If Arsenal beat Wigan it's obviously all over though.

I can't think of anything worse than having to rely on the goons to slip up!

We blew it by losing at home to Fulham and drawing with Wigan.

There's always next season!!!

Yeah tbf you fellas were loud but then again so were we so it made for a corker of an atmosphere.

There was all the usual verbals as you lot were going into the ground and leaving the ground too. During the game it got quite heated between fans in the upper part of your end and our end on the side of the touchline (The East Stand) but more stewards were brought in. Some violence but not much at all after the game.

I think had Ramires not slipped then we would have got the 3 points but you battled back well and Adebayor had a stormer of a game last night. Was very impressed.
 
Cracking atmosphere last night. Mid week evening games are always the best imho, and this one had an extra bit of spice for the importance of the result and the fact it was a local Derby.
 
Well done to both the Chelsea and Spurs fans replying to this thread and taking the time to praise each other instead of belittling and insulting as is often the case! When talking of rivals, I suppose West Ham must be just another match rather than a major London Derby as you guys have bigger fish to fry in the Premiership and in Europe! Enjoy the cultural delights of Amsterdam next week guys. You must be relieved it is Benfica rather than Fenerbache otherwise you could have been spending time training for the next London Marathon!!i

You should have buried us but from the equaliser I felt we had more chance of winning in the last 10mins.
I think Chelsea have always hated Spurs with passionate intensity . We have come more to despise you over the
years as you have become all conquering outfit and in my case a little envious . With your sugar daddy money
it's makes it imposable to ever have an even level playing field , no matter how near we get to you.
Buying success year on means that every one else becomes a supporting actor to you and City.
In the rules of fair play (you will get round it as City) it's leaves a little bitter taste.
So yes l agree it has intensified over the last few years, also I think you have most
talented midfield in the country, which I could only dream about in a lillywhite shirt.

West Ham is still a London derby and one with a lot of passion where West Ham v Chelsea is concerned. Both sets of fans have many chants about the other. At Upton Park this season it was easy to see how much the win meant for the pikeys. Little farkers got right in our faces when they took the lead and all the way back into central London...
