But it gives us the opportunity to rotate and give players a rest. I rather be in that position rather than relying on a kack back up <ok>

That is true.

I think our strongest 11 is pretty good right now. But when you think of 2 quality players per position we lack alternatives to Suarez, Sturridge, Gerrard (ok we have Allen?), Lucas, Agger and Enrique (Johnson moving over works well enough, we have three RB options). Though some young players are stepping closer to filling these gaps).

Competition for places is important. Which is pretty much what Gerrez just said.

Look at United who just won the league. In the wings/AM positions they have Young, Kagawa, Valencia, Nani, Giggs and Rooney. I wouldnt call any of those squad players. They never play all at the same time either. Who ever performs best gets the games. No one ever fusses if they get an injury in those areas either.

They have options to come off the bench, they have experienced players, they have young and hungry players - it's a good blend of youth and experience.

Hearing that Liverpool are stepping their interest in Remy, and that we're also confident of landing Alderweirald.

Ryan Babel has come out and said that he's trying to convince teammate, Eriksen to join LFC. But it appears that our interest has cooled off - maybe due to increasing competition or perhaps because Coutinho has excelled in that position.

So how much pace is the wanyama sory picking up now?

More and more of these: Southampton and Liverpool both want to sign Celtic's 21-year-old defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama. [Mirror]

Williams?

I really hope not..... much better out there ( younger too) and we will 100% be paying over the odds just so Rodgers can get back one of his boys. Sakho, Dede, Douglas, Alderweirald, all better for me and cheaper.

I personally don't mind William but only if we get a quality defender like Alderweirald as well to give us more options. Not only that, Williams at a very good price would be good but I can't see Swansea accepting anything less than £10m and that is far too much.

Apparently we're scouting FC Porto left back Andre Santos.

Young, quick and Brazilian.

Alex Sandro you mean? I buy him in FIFA if it helps any. <laugh>

Bad news though:

Guillem Balague says on Revista de la Liga Pepe Reina will sign a 2-year deal with Barcelona

Buy a LB and stick Enrique in net <ok>

James McCarthy would be a decent signing. We seem to be linkedin him every year sicne he moved to Wigan but reminds me a bit of Henderson. Maybe not quite got the energy, but more composed in the midfield, and probably a similar role that Allen could play. Offers more of a goal threat as well. Still young as well.

See Sky are reporting that Swansea will accept £10mil for Williams. Still £3-4mil too much in my opinion. £6mil and I'd probably take him, proven in Premiership for a couple of years and would prove a decent option with Carragher & Coateas & possibly Skrtel going. see Richards is playing for City tonight, wonder if he'd be worth a cheeky bid as well, might be able to get him cheaper following his fitness issues last few years but if he's over that could be a great signing.
