Hughton does have a decent record in that Championship.. I'd dare say that it is 'his level' and that he will always be a good championship club manager or a lower Prem club manager at his peak....

I wonder what the 7 year plan had in its small print. Did getting relegated equate to sacking the manager each time, there were two relegations factored in (my memory but be wrong) so was the plan to try to get promotion with a new manager each time, or was it about building a team under a single manager. CH has done well in the championship, and as said above, he is probably a good championship manager, my fear is that we could end up with someone worse.

Spot on, this post.

Who else would you have? For everything Hughton is he did have a record breaking season the the Championship with Newcastle and did well at Birmingham under very difficult circumstances.

Admittedly we won't be winning then in the PL, but we will get to watch football for less cash and have a derby match: bring it on.

I don't know if you're being serious or not mate but the Premier League is THE only place to be IMO. Staying up would give us the opportunity to 'push on' and hopefully with the extra money prevent another deacle like this year. It will be a disaster if we go down as we would have to start all over again, just look how long it took us to get back last time. Notwithstanding the embarrassment of RVW not joining after all. (Rumour has it WBA are preparing to buy him from us should we get relegated). I for one want to remain in the big time and I'm sick of people being content with being 'little old Norwich'. Bollocks, it doesn't have to be that way, I don't care what anyone else says my football club has potential long term to be a regular top ten PL side <ok>

My preference would be the PL, and it would be nice to be a regular top 10 side, another way of saying that is that we achieve mid table mediocrity each season, hardly very exciting. For me, it has nothing to do with being a small team, it is about accepting the reality of football. WBA are a prime example of what could happen with Norwich, but in reality all they have done is consolidate in the PL and have developed slowly and we might just have to accept that there will be some yo yoing between leagues. We are in better position to come back up than we were in 2005, so I don't see the situation as that gloomy.

Completely agree with KIO. Relegation would be disasterous and a massive step backwards. Yes we'd (probably) win more and see better football but we won't be able to develop the ground or further improve the squad and could possibly lose some of our better players who don't have Championship football in thei career plans - can't see Ruddy staying if we go down and we could also lose Bassong/Turner and RvW without seeing him kick a ball in anger.

I may be the last great optimist but I can still see us hanging on by the skin of our teeth probably as a result of the failing of others - Wigan must run out of steam soon and Sunderland have so many players unavailable they may struggle as well.

It's simple enough, we simply MUST beat WBA no other result will do. The players need to sweat blood on Sunday and get a result at all costs by fair means or foul. 41 points and we WILL survive <ok>
