5-4 to Brentford. Only poor penalty was one with a short, crappy run up. Silly and naive. Big lesson for the youngster that took it. Swindon's keeper Fotheringham(?) looked like he was really struggling during extra time and I think the Brentford players took confidence from it. I guess we get Luongo back for the remaining U21 games though, as a plus.
So Peterborough and Swindon will not be getting the services of Pritchard and Luongo next season I guess.
I agree. Both players have proved this season that they are more than capable at playing above League 1 level.
On paper that leaves Millwall and QPR. Are there any other clubs in the that league who Spurs have some rapport with +/- the coaching staff think are suitable for assisting our kids in the next stage of their development ??
Charlton? Obika's loan has gone fairly well, I guess. Blackburn? Sherwood's old stomping ground, though the words piss up and brewery spring to mind. Whichever one of Palace or Watford that doesn't go up? Possibly both of them. Issues with Jordan, of course. (Not the country or the slapper, before anyone says it.)
I'm taking it Luongo's name isn't pronounced "Lon-gee-oh" like one of the commentators kept saying his name. He looked really good at times today, even if he should really have given away another penalty. Pleased for Brentford though, might be a good place to send some players next season if they go up.
Luongo has played a lot of football since he went to Swindon. It's a big step to go from playing once a week at under 21 level to twice a week for a side clinging to a play off place as Swindon have been recently. For sure he showed some nice touches, but I thought he showed signs (understandably) of weariness and it wasn't one of his better performances.
Fair enough, I don't seem to pick up on the tiredness so much when he was involved with the play I thought he looked good. That cheeky chip he played over a player before legging it up the pitch trying to get a chance was the main moment that stood out for me, it was a nice touch of class for a team defending deep in injury time with 10 men.
Jordan left Palace three years ago when they went into administration. We've had a decent record loaning players to Villa (Walker a couple of seasons back, Dawkins at present), Ipswich (Townsend, Livermore, Dos Santos - although they effed up with Luongo), Orient (Townsend, Kane, Carroll), Yeovil (Caulker, Townsend, Obika, Mason), Bristol City (Caulker, Rose), MK Dons (Livermore, Townsend, Smith), Derby (Livermore, Carroll), Leicester (Naughton - but they messed Kane around) Millwall, Charlton and Villa are good choices, QPR is either or - they should be good, but if they have to get rid of a lot of players in a short time it may harm the development of the prospects we send there to play in a patched-up team.
Harry Kane is on the bench tonight for Leicester in the play off against Watford. Our former player Mark Yeates, starts for Watford.
Hope Kane gets a bit of time in this game. This loan seems to have been a mistake for him, as he only ever gets a few minutes, here and there.
1-0 Nugent. Kane won the freekick that led to it if we're looking for tenuous praise. As I'm editing this Kane could've had an assist and had a half decent shot. It's all action now.
Nice to see Andros Townsend get a POTY award for QPR today. He got the Junior Hoops award. Well done Andros, hope to see you back at the Lane next season.
