Head-to-head
• Hull lead by the slenderest of margins in the head-to-head standings against Cardiff, with 20 wins, 19 losses and 18 draws from 57 league encounters.
• The 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture nearly six months ago was Cardiff's win number eight of what turned out to be a club record 10 in a row at home. Goals at either end of the game from Heidar Helguson and Mark Hudson settled the issue.
• Cardiff are looking for a second double in three seasons over their East Yorkshire opponents.
Hull City
• Hull, who've not won nor scored in three, need all three points against the newly crowned champions to confirm that they will be joining Cardiff as the second automatically promoted club, back to the Premier League they vacated in 2010.
• If the Tigers tumble to a third defeat in four outings, they could miss out on second place and be destined to a first play-off campaign since 2008, when they beat Bristol City in the final with a goal from Dean Windass, and gained a first ever taste of top-flight football in what was then the clubs' 104-year history.
• Goals have been precious for Steve Bruce's club this season, as each has been worth 1.32 points; the highest value in the Championship.
Cardiff City
• Cardiff are revelling in their first promotion campaign to the top-flight in 53 years, in which they have won an unrivalled 25 of their 45 games.
• The Bluebirds are on a seven-match unbeaten run (W2, D5), of which the last three have been drawn - the first of which was goalless at home to Charlton on 16 April and sealed promotion.
• Manager Malky Mackay may have an incentive to win this match, as defeat for Hull could give the second automatic promotion spot to Watford, his former club.
• David Marshall has kept an unrivalled 18 clean sheets, having been in goal for every minute of Cardiff's title-winning campaign.
• 30-year-old defender Kevin McNaughton is anticipating his 250th league appearance for the Bluebirds.
